Parent's Night Out

Calgary Zoo - ZOOLIGHTS.

Takes place November 19 to January 2 (excluding November 23, 28 & 30 and December 3, 25 & 31). ZOOLIGHTS, presented by Olympia Trust Company, is back for its 25th year! This year's ZOOLIGHTS will feature exciting new themed areas and activities including a 25th anniversary Memory Lane, the Nutcracker in the ENMAX Conservatory, and an all-new “Tunnel of Light,” a tribute to Canada’s wetland, a holiday Zoo Market, and a very special “Dinos at Night” experience like you have never seen before! Of course, the Zoo is bringing back all the classic activities everyone has come to love like the Skating Rink, Fire pits, and Rival Axe Throwing. ZOOLIGHTS comes to life at night with twinkling lights at every turn, including over 200 light figurines, along with interactive and choreographed light displays. The lights are turned on at 5pm nightly and run until 9pm. It takes approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours to experience all that ZOOLIGHTS has to offer - but you are able to stay for as little or as long as you like!

Museum of Failure.

The worldwide touring exhibit, The Museum of Failure (MOX), is coming to Canada for the very FIRST time! MOX will be popping up in Calgary at Southcentre Mall this summer. This immersive walk-through exhibition showcases a collection of over 130 failed innovations from major brands, including Apple, Amazon, Nintendo, and more. From the Segway to Google Glass, some of the world's most prominent companies have produced their fair share of flops. But as the old saying goes, failure is the best teacher! - All-ages event, bring your friends and family! - July 1 - August 31 event dates and time slots available. End date is subject to change. - The MOX exhibit is located at Southcentre Mall on the Southeast end of the building, between Decathlon and Craft Beer Market. Free parking upon arrival. Inspire Fest.

Inspire Fest is a community driven festival set at an urban farm near the heart of Calgary. Highfield Regenerative Farm is a grassroots organization designed to energize creative and engaged communities through art, permaculture, music, food and performance. Inspire Fest is a showcase of topflight Alberta bands, DJs, dancers and creators in a custom venue, backstopped by amazing lights and sound, with a Burning Man mutant vehicle to boot. Inspire Fest is a celebration of togetherness, and a central gathering intended to strengthen connections and foster collaboration across creative disciplines. Local Alberta builders, doers and makers will bring their big art, performances, and organic food creations to craft a dynamic backdrop to the grassroots homegrown locale of Highfield Regenerative Farm. The immersive art experience begins the second you enter the Highfield Farm. You can watch visual art such as graffiti or live paintings being created in the moment or participate in the process yourself. You can take part in the regenerative farming process by working with the plants soil in the brand-new greenhouse or enjoy the calming tranquility of the Wellness Meadow. Whether from the expressive performances, the farm-style permaculture knowledge, or the giant fire breathing turtle, the entire experience may leave you feeling like you’ve left the city and entered a whole new world.

Chinook Country Historical Society, a chapter of the Historical Society of Alberta, is pleased to present the 32nd annual Historic Calgary Week from July 22 through August 1, 2022. Join us as we learn about and celebrate the history, culture, and community of Calgary and area with this year’s theme – We'll Meet Again: Unseen History Brought to Life. There are virtual and in-person events and with more than 65 different walks, talks, tours, and presentations there is something for everyone. All events are open to the public and almost all are free of charge. Pre-registration is required for most events and attendance at many in-person events is limited. Donations are graciously accepted and appreciated.

Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo - Corks For Conservation.

The zoo transforms into a peaceful escape – perfect for a girls’ night out, or a romantic date. This event will celebrate wine both Canadian and International and will span the entire zoo. Each ticket includes: admission to the zoo, wine tasting, chef attended food stations, classical music, games, and education. Corks for Conservation will happen rain or shine – moving indoors with inclement weather. A limited number of VIP tickets are available.
