Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! Indigenous History Month Celebration at Southcentre Mall.

Join us at Southcentre Mall from June 3rd to 23rd for our fourth annual Indigenous History Month celebration in partnership with Authentically Indigenous. This month-long event will foster understanding, appreciation, and celebration of Canada’s Indigenous Peoples. Experience educational activities, cultural displays, and storytelling sessions that connect both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians. The celebrations will include: Full-Size Tipi: Step inside a tipi adorned with tapestries representing decades of Indigenous contributions to Calgary’s culture. Storytelling: Be moved by traditional stories from elders, delight in puppet shows by Indigenous authors, and explore virtual reality experiences by the Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth. Artisan Market: Discover the vibrancy of Indigenous creativity at our artisan market on June 7th and 8th. Enjoy music, dance, and locally crafted goods. Canada Day at Spruce Meadows.

Join Spruce Meadows for a fun-filled day celebrating Canada’s 150th Birthday! Canada Day will be held during the ‘Pan American’ tournament, presented by Rolex (June 27 to July 2). Show jumping will be happening starting at 8am and running throughout the day until approximately 5pm. From 11am to 5pm, there will be a variety of family fun activities: Pony Rides and Face Painters bouncy castles, and kid’s fun zones. And from 7 to 9m, celebrate with Spruce Meadows and the Rocky Mountain Symphony Orchestra for a free Canada Day Concert in the park. The concert will take place on Founders Plaza. This is an outdoor event; please dress accordingly. Please access Spruce Meadows and the parking from the west entrance (off Tournament Lane) and park in lots 7 and/or 8. The main entrance and traditional parking access to lot 2 on the east side of the property will not be accessible.

Roots 2 STEM has our first annual Steps for STEM walk/run on Saturday, July 1st at South Glenmore Park; we are celebrating Canada's 150th birthday by building roots for a stronger future, supporting STEM education which will encourage the future leaders of Calgary on their path to success. The location for our event is phenomenal, with a start/finish line right beside the children’s water park and a route that goes through the local dog park! We have a 10km run option that starts at 10:30am as well as a 5km walk and/or run option that starts at 11:00am; Steps for STEM is family friendly and dog friendly!
