Events may be smaller to adhere to COVID-19 regulations, but the self-guided activities will be bigger than ever! The great outdoors has made its way inside TELUS Spark and adventure is calling! The world may seem like it’s been flipped upside down and inside out in 2020. Learn how to ground yourself in this safe indoor pathway science exhibit that immerses you into the great outdoors without being outside. You'll learn about the science of the hormones that keep you happy. After all, happiness is key! The exhibit features a boardwalk that guides you through micro-habitats peppered with tips, tricks, and strategies for resiliency during uncertain times. The experience focuses on the science behind neurotransmitters from serotonin to endorphins and its role in boosting mental health and well-being. This exhibit is included with general admission or membership to Spark. Members must reserve tickets for entry.

Open select nights, October 10 to 31. The Devil’s Drive-In is the first such attraction in Calgary! Not even a pandemic can squash the spirits of Halloween. This year, Haunted Calgary is reimagining what a haunted attraction may look like, bringing you terror like never before - all from the safety of your parked vehicle! Choose your own nightmare! With three original theatrical productions to choose from, including a family-friendly option, there is something for everyone. Buckle up because once you're parked, you'll be plunged into a 7-minute story from which there is no escape. This will be the Halloween attraction that everyone is talking about, so don't miss out! Tickets are extremely limited, only available by online presale, and are expected to sell out nightly, so don't wait! Pumkin Days takes place Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays, September 17 to October 31. Thursdays: 10am to 5pm. Fridays to Sundays: 10am to 5:30pm. Picking the perfect pumpkin at the Farmyard is an annual tradition for many families and friends. In addition to enjoying hours of fun on the farm, pumpkins are on display for photos and for purchase. All carving pumpkin proceeds will be donated to local charities. Admission includes access to the entire farm with the exception of the Paintball gallery and gemstone mining. Pumpkins for photo ops and for purchase are available each day. Larger pumpkin displays will be set up on the weekends. Timed tickets are available on a weekly basis and must be purchased in advance as daily attendance capacities are in effect. Season passholders do not require timed tickets.

Storyteller/Musician Samantha Whelan Kotkas and her friends will entertain you and your children with musical interactive tales of child-accessible hikes in the Rocky Mountains. Take steps for child mental health through a global event like no other: The RBC Global Virtual Race for the Kids on October 17 and 18! Supporters from all over the world will band together - virtually, of course - to walk and run in a show of solidarity and support for youth. There is no registration fee; however, you will have the opportunity to raise awareness and much-needed funds for the new Centre for Child & Adolescent Mental Health. Join for this unique and important global event to support mental health for young people.

Fall is in the air and Kayben Farms is so excited to be opening up again! Pumpkin Fest takes place weekends in October, in specific 2-hour windows. Stroll through the farmyard and find your perfect pumpkins! Add in some great animal visits, fabulous Fall photo-ops, pony rides, a ride through Scarecrow Alley in the back woodlands (spectacular at this time of year) and you’ve got the must-do socially-distanced Fall fun day, great for the whole family! Takes place Saturdays and Sundays in October and Thanksgiving Monday from 11am to 5pm (October 3, 4, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 24, 25, 31 and November 1). Walk through the pumpkin patch, take beautiful photos, and pick your favorite pumpkins to buy for Halloween carving! There will be princesses there for photos, too! If we can help our kids find resiliency, we know they’ll be prepared for future success in the world no matter what life throws at them. Research supports that when children are resilient, they are braver, more curious, more adaptable, and better positioned to extend their reach into the world. That's why Scouts Canada is partnering with Dr. Robyne Hanley-Dafoe, a specialist in resiliency and navigating stress and change, to develop The Guide to Resilient Children, a free resource for families. Join Scouts Canada’s free interactive webinar with Dr. Hanley-Dafoe to discover the principles of building resiliency, some steps that families can take to help kids, and answer questions that parents have. Explore everyday tips, practices, sustainable solutions, and age-appropriate goals to developing resiliency in The Guide to Resilient Children.

Come enjoy a safe, spooktacular, family-friendly round of mini golf at WinSport! This fun, intermediate 18-hole outdoor course will transform into a Halloween extravaganza (brought to you by the makers of Grim Manor). The course will be well lit and challenge all ages and abilities while offering a safe Halloween activity. Dress up and get into the Halloween spirit! It's a spooktacular good time for the entire family! The course will take up to 60 minutes to complete depending on how quickly you proceed through the course. Timed bookings (advanced and online only) will allow adequate distancing between groups, there will be very limited capacity for walk-ups on the day of so book in advance to guarantee availability. Heightened cleaning measures are in place.
