Star Trek: The Starfleet Academy Experience is coming to Calgary’s science centre February 4 to June 4! Experience a “career day” at the Starfleet Academy. Test your knowledge and skills to discover what your true ranking would be in a Starfleet career – will you be a Medical, Engineering or Science Officer, or even a Commander? Exciting possibilities await in this immersive and interactive experience that appeals to lifelong fans and new Star Trek enthusiasts alike.

La Prématernelle Les Petits Pieds is excited to offer families the opportunity to visit their location in an interactive format, which will allow your child to experience some of what their program has to offer, as well as to be inroduced to their educators. Complete or submit your registration package onsite to ensure your preferred placement for the Fall!

Come and meet the experienced teacher and aids! See the full size indoor gym and bright sunny classroom. There's lots of free parking and elevator access. They offer classes for 3 and 4 year olds. 3 year old morning class ($160 per month). Tuesday and Thursday: 9:00 to 11:15am. Children should be 3 years old by Nov. 1 of the current school year. However, they will have a maximum of 6 spots available in each class for those children who will be turning three by Nov. 1. Class limit is 16 children with a teacher and an aide. 4 year old morning class ($195 per month). Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 9 to 11:15am. The child should be 4 years old by the end of Dec. 31 of the current school year. Class limit is 18 children with a teacher and an aide.

The Dare to Care program brings a new approach to building a caring and socially responsible community. Finding out that your child is having problems because of bullying, either at school or online (cyber-bullying), can be an upsetting and stressful experience. Participants will learn about the scope of this problem in today's society as well as the difference between normal peer conflict and bullying. As it is also critical that parents be aware of what their children are doing online, tips and guidelines will be provided to help children make positive choices while using social media and other technology. To conclude the evening, participants will also learn six, non-reactive life skills. To Be a Miss is a feature-length documentary journey that takes the viewer through the inner workings of Venezuela’s beauty factory, exploring the hopes and dreams of young models as they strive to become the next Miss Venezuela. Following three central protagonists, the film exposes the risks and rewards associated with this multi-billion dollar industry while showing how nationalism, personal ambition, and the influence of mass media have transformed the lives of ordinary women in the country. A film by film by Edward Ellis, Aaron Woolf, and Flor Salcedo. There will be a 30-minute Skype Q&A with director Edward Ellis to follow the screening. Admission is free for students with ID, and for the community with donation (cash or non-perishable foods) to the food bank. Seating is limited so please arrive early.

Want to learn fun, uniquely Canadian choreography? Here’s your chance. Ahead of Sharing Dance Day (on June 2), the Decidedly Jazz Danceworks is offering free dance classes weekly. Dancers of all ages and abilities wanted! No experience required! Rehearsals will prepare you to shine in community performances across Canada beginning June 2. This is a great chance to get some exercise and have fun. Gather your family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and get dancing!
