Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! Join us at Southcentre Mall from June 3rd to 23rd for our fourth annual Indigenous History Month celebration in partnership with Authentically Indigenous. This month-long event will foster understanding, appreciation, and celebration of Canada’s Indigenous Peoples. Experience educational activities, cultural displays, and storytelling sessions that connect both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians. The celebrations will include: Full-Size Tipi: Step inside a tipi adorned with tapestries representing decades of Indigenous contributions to Calgary’s culture. Storytelling: Be moved by traditional stories from elders, delight in puppet shows by Indigenous authors, and explore virtual reality experiences by the Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth. Artisan Market: Discover the vibrancy of Indigenous creativity at our artisan market on June 7th and 8th. Enjoy music, dance, and locally crafted goods. Educational Information Walls: Learn and engage with displays that provide deeper insights into Indigenous culture.

Based on the smash DreamWorks animated motion picture, Madagascar, a musical adventure follows all of your favorite crack-a-lackin’ friends as they escape from their home in New York’s Central Park Zoo and find themselves on an unexpected journey to the madcap world of King Julien’s Madagascar. There’s Double, Double, Toil and Trouble at the Calgary Farmers’ Market this Halloween when families come out for these Spooktacular Events! Check out the pumpkins in the vendor pumpkin carving contest and vote for a chance to win $50 in Market Bucks on Friday, October 27! And on October 28, come in your Halloween costume for spooktacular fun with a Christopher Cool Magic Show, a 'spooky' sing-a-long, healthy Halloween snacks, and a Mad Scientist Fire and Ice Show!

Haunted Calgary takes place October 27, 28, and 31. Low scare (daylight, few to no actors) is 2 to 4pm and full scare is 6 to 10pm. Haunted Calgary is the largest walk-through haunted yard attraction in Calgary! This is an outdoor attraction so dress warm and be prepared to wait in line. Wear sturdy footwear for safety. Costumes are welcome, but leave weapons and large/bulky costumes at home, in your vehicle, or check them with the box office volunteers. The theme is "Hollywood Horror." Haunted Calgary aims to be the scariest haunted attraction; parental discretion is strongly advised. Entrance to this popular Calgary tradition is by donation for charity partners. It's a pay-what-you-can attraction, but $10 per person for Oops-a-Dazy Rescue and Sanctuary Society and two non-perishable food items for the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank are recommended.

Halloween Boo Bags at North Mount Pleasant Arts Centre. A creative Halloween event for families! Northmount Arts Centre will supply a fabulous instructor and all the art supplies you need! Tweens ages 10 to 17 get admission to the pool for $5. There will be spooky activities, prizes, monster music, and fun!

Put on a costume, bring your zombies, and prepare yourself for some creepy bumps and bangs with a few uninvited guests! Join the decomposing musicians for a family-friendly variety show of v-eerie spooky pipe organ music, groaning humour, and some Gothic Rock’n'Roll.
