Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! November 12 to December 24. Santa is Coming to Bass Pro Shops! Santa will be available daily for free photos with the whole family! Your family can also enjoy free crafts and games, or explore the store while you wait to meet the big man himself! Come and enjoy an afternoon listening to stories and some of Canada’s finest musicians. Storyteller/Musician Samantha Whelan Kotkas and her friends will entertain you and your children with musical interactive tales of child-accessible hikes in the Rocky Mountains. Teach your child about courage, unity, joyfulness, and caring in an afternoon of fun and adventure. An event for the whole family that you will want to be a part of. Recommended for children aged 5 to 12, but created with the entire family in mind. Come one hour before the show & enjoy family friendly activities. Stay after to meet the performers. The Calgary Farmers' Market is continuing their holiday tradition and will be transforming into the premiere destination to find everything for on the table and under the tree this upcoming holiday season. Dine with friends as live holiday entertainment fills the market, indulge in treats while you find the perfect gift, and create memories with special activities. There will be plenty of activities from Santa and cookie decorating, Tea with Mrs. Claus, live ice carving, a Canadian Maple Shack, and more! Plus, there is no admission fee and free parking! Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays from November 17 to December 23, 9:30am to 5:30pm. Alpaca Christmas at Granary Road. Get your photo taken with a debonair scarf-sporting alpaca, mingle through the market and shop for the holidays, sit on Santa’s lap and tell him how good you were this year, go for a sleigh or hay ride, skate on the pond, take part in snowman-building contests, throw snow balls at funny frigid targets, visit the North Pole Frozen Funland, and more! Downtown Okotoks will be transformed into a magical Christmas theme with fire pits, free hot chocolate, teams of horse-drawn wagon rides, choirs, carolers, lighting of the tree at 7pm, concluded by fireworks at 9pm! The event zone is the entire downtown.
