13th Annual Hike for Hospice Calgary

Sunday May 6, 2018 at 9am - 3pm. 9am: North Parking Lot - Registration, Pledge Drop-Off, T-shirt Pick-Up, and Festivities. 10am: Warm up with the Stampeder Outriders, Opening Ceremonies, and then the Walk! Walk 5K at Sikome Lake, Fish Creek Provincial Park, as Hospice Calgary celebrates people close to Hospice Calgary and to support end-of-life care in the local community. There will also be refreshments, face painting, a kids zone, a doggie zone, and photo booth! For full details and to register for the Hike for Hospice Calgary, visit the website. Alberta Dance Theatre - An Impossible Question Means a Journey.

December 7 & 8. In this season’s performance, Alberta Dance Theatre is joined by a zen master panda for a journey into mindfulness. Stumbled upon by the ADT dancers, Pan imparts his wisdom to those around him through ancient stories and anecdotes revealing tales of zen and impossible questions. Stories of generosity, friendship, and fate are woven together into a contemplative journey for both dancers and audience. Through shadow puppets, starfish, monks, a giant snow globe, 42 dancers, and a zen master panda, Alberta Dance Theatre uncovers a whimsical yet accessible perspective on mindfulness and zen!

Viessmann Luge World Cup at WinSport.

The fastest athletes on ice will slide into Calgary for the Viessmann Luge World Cup and the Viessmann Team Relay World Cup. WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park will play host to the fourth stop on the World Cup luge circuit as more than 120 athletes representing more than 20 countries will blast down the Olympic Track at speeds of up to 130 km/h in men and women singles, and doubles races. Come cheer on Canada and our Olympians on the road to the Olympics in 2018 in PyeongChang, Korea. Schedule: December 7: 4pm. December 8: Doubles - 3 to 5:10pm. Men: 5:40 to 8:20pm. Then Awards. December 9: Women - 9:40 to 11:50am. Team Relay - 12:50 to 1:50pm. Then Awards. And there will also be Christmas at the Track Activities for the whole family! Takes place from 10am to 3pm.

The Airdrie Festival of Lights will glow nightly from December 1 to 31 from 6 to 9pm. Admission is by cash donation.
