Block Heater 2018: Winter's Answer to the Calgary Folk Music Festival.
Everyday from Feb 15, 2018 - Feb 17, 2018 at 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm
The Calgary Folk Music Festival presents the 3rd edition of Block Heater, a winter music extravaganza from February 15 to 17, Family Day Long Weekend. 24 local, national, and international artists perform in concerts and collaborative sessions at 4 venues. The multi-faceted roots, blues, country, and indie music program injects the summer festival vibe into a bleak winter month. Much like the island community built on Prince’s Island each July, this is a community-based festival experience that celebrates artistic excellence. Friday and Saturday night at Studio Bell and the King Eddy allows folks to wander from stage to stage, hang with friends at the different bars, and become immersed in the National Music Centre’s exhibits and collections. Block Heater takes place at Festival Hall (1215, 10 Avenue SE); Ironwood Stage and Grill (1229, 9 Ave. SE); Studio Bell (850, 4 St. SE); and King Eddy (438, 9 Ave. SE).
