Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! After Earth Hour, share your participation with #EarthHour and #EarthHourYYC. Email programs@arusha.org with questions.

Register today for the 13th Annual Hike for Hospice Calgary, taking place on May 6. 9am: North Parking Lot - Registration, Pledge Drop-Off, T-shirt Pick-Up, and Festivities. 10am: Warm up with the Stampeder Outriders, Opening Ceremonies, and then the Walk! Walk 5K at Sikome Lake, Fish Creek Provincial Park, as Hospice Calgary celebrates people close to Hospice Calgary and to support end-of-life care in the local community. There will also be refreshments, face painting, a kids zone, a doggie zone, and photo booth! For full details and to register for the Hike for Hospice Calgary, visit the website. This month-long event will foster understanding, appreciation, and celebration of Canada’s Indigenous Peoples. Experience educational activities, cultural displays, and storytelling sessions that connect both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians. The celebrations will include: Full-Size Tipi: Step inside a tipi adorned with tapestries representing decades of Indigenous contributions to Calgary’s culture. Storytelling: Be moved by traditional stories from elders, delight in puppet shows by Indigenous authors, and explore virtual reality experiences by the Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth. Wildlife Baby Shower.

It's baby season at the Calgary Wildlife Rehabilitation Society! Every year, CWRS receives hundreds of orphaned infant wild animals. Join at Bow Habitat Station for the first annual wildlife baby shower! We are hoping to build a mountain of supplies and donations to help us provide the best care possible! WILD activities are included with $5 (+tax) admission to Bow Habitat Station's Discovery Centre. There will be Face Painting, Games, Touch Tables, Educational programs with Ophelia (the Great Horned Owl) and Lito (Swainson's Hawk). Don't forget to bring a donation item from the wishlist to help us continue to care for injured and abandoned wildlife. CWRS will also be accepting cash donations on-site, which entitles you to a tax receipt. Help build a mountain of donated items to get us through baby season! Wishlist: Gift cards to grocery or hardware stores; Toilet Paper; Paper Towel; Towels; White Office Paper; Vitamix Blender; Stamps. Please leave strollers at home for this event.

Join Wendy Lees, Community Art Facilitator, for an all-ages workshop of making and trading Artist Trading Cards in the gallery of Studio C, located in the vibrant arts hub of cSPACE King Edward, in Marda Loop. Collage, paint or alter any surface measuring 2.5" X 3.5". This is a fun way to start making and collecting art. This workshop is for children, accompanied by their caregiver, who are ages 5 and up.
