Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! Register Now for the SunRype TRi KiDS Triathlon on July 22! This triathlon offers safe, non-competitive, confidence-building races for children and youth ages 3 to 15. We set up a reading tent at Riley Park every Saturday of the summer (weather permitting) to promote children's literacy June 23 to August 25! Children will be able to read books with volunteers and participate in crafts and face paint related to the weekly themes.

On June 23, the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS) is holding an Open House and celebration for their first-year anniversary at the Safe Haven location in Calgary. AARCS will be acknowledging the Safe Haven and Veterinary Hospital on the traditional territories of the Treaty 7 region. Guest speaker Casey Eagle Speaker will be joining AARCS for the Land Acknowledgement presentation and plaque unveiling. In addition, AARCS will be hosting tours of the Safe Haven and Veterinary Hospital. Come join in the celebration! *Monetary gifts or items from the AARCS Wish List are greatly appreciated.

Join Mad Science for this free 45 minute Science of Toys Preschool Workshop brought to you by The Calgary Public Library. Toys are more than just fun - they're science! Learn about motors, energy, and the centre of gravity through toy-based activities. Children will each take home their own Mad Science Spring Thing.
