Earth Hour 2024.

Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! After Earth Hour, share your participation with #EarthHour and #EarthHourYYC. Email programs@arusha.org with questions.

When the Elders of the Community choose him to be the Receiver of Memory, Jonas starts a journey to uncover the truth of this place he has always called home. The more he learns, the more he realizes the Community has systematically given up much of what gives life its meaning: color, music, truth, and love. At the end of the story, Jonas faces a decision that will define him and, ultimately, set a course toward hope. This show is recommended for ages 10 and up. This incredible program allows visitors to get an up-close look at the group of king penguins as they explore, exercise, and waddle their way through the zoo. This is a free-choice activity for the penguins and is subject to weather conditions. *Note: If the temperature warms up to +5ºC, drops to below -25ºC, or the wind exceeds 20km/h, it will be cancelled for the safety of the penguins. Coldest Night of the Year.

For the next few weeks, there will be fundraising for the Coldest Night of the Year – hosted by partners KAIROS in support of HomeSpace and Feed the Hungry. Last year, over 21,000 walkers across Canada joined this event raising just under $5 million dollars - it's Canada's National Walk for Homelessness. 50% of funds raised from the local walk at Calgary Downtown will go toward the Bankview mortgage.
