Fiesta Filipino YYC 2019.

Fiesta Filipino is celebrating its 5th year as the largest Filipino festival in Calgary. Last year, it drew in over 60,000 guests to Olympic Plaza for a weekend of food and festivities. Authentic Filipino cuisine and street food will be available for everyone to try. There will be 15 food vendors at the venue, including a beer garden which will sell Filipino-branded beer. Filipino cuisine & street food will be available! There will be a kids zone where children get to play Filipino games.The stage will be full of non-stop performances, including Filipino Cultural dances, singing, and entertainment from performers. Celebrity guests this year include Mr. Ian Veneracion and Miss Lovi Poe. Fiesta Filipino is partnering with Arts Commons and guests will gain free access to see Filipino Artwork inside the Arts Commons building. Famous monuments such as the Manila Church will be recreated around the plaza. Fiesta Filipino will be showing its support for the LGBTQ community by participating at the Pride Parade for the first time this year!

BBQ on the Bow.

BBQ on the Bow is an annual Kansas City BBQ Society (KCBS) sanctioned BBQ Competition and outdoor festival. There will be food demonstrations, live music, beer gardens, a kids zone, food trucks, marketplace, and interact with the competitors, too!

The celebrations will include: Full-Size Tipi: Step inside a tipi adorned with tapestries representing decades of Indigenous contributions to Calgary’s culture. Storytelling: Be moved by traditional stories from elders, delight in puppet shows by Indigenous authors, and explore virtual reality experiences by the Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth. Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! After Earth Hour, share your participation with #EarthHour and #EarthHourYYC. Email programs@arusha.org with questions.
