Mountain Film - Calgary is part of the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour and was first shown in Calgary in 1980. The organizers presented 4 films they had rented from various Canadian libraries. Over the next 20 years, they brought in more than 50 international mountaineering and adventure speakers. Now, 40 years later, Mountain Film - Calgary brings you the best mountain and adventure films in 2 unique programs over 7 screenings at the Taylor Centre for the Performing Arts at MRU. Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! After Earth Hour, share your participation with #EarthHour and #EarthHourYYC. Email programs@arusha.org with questions.

Come and explore the Preschool and Kindergarten classrooms with your child and meet the teachers in the “Kinderwing.” Families with children entering Grades 1 to 9 are invited to drop in and visit the main school where classrooms will be open with student work on display. Staff will be available to answer your questions about the programs and admission.

Penguin Walk at the Calgary Zoo.

2020 marks the 8th year of the Calgary Zoo Penguin Walk! The king penguin colony heads out on the zoo grounds for a daily enrichment walk in the winter months and visitors get to experience the fun! This incredible program allows visitors to get an up-close look at the group of king penguins as they explore, exercise, and waddle their way through the zoo. This is a free-choice activity for the penguins and is subject to weather conditions.
