Teach your child about courage, unity, joyfulness, and caring in an afternoon of fun and adventure. An event for the whole family that you will want to be a part of. Recommended for children aged 5 to 12, but created with the entire family in mind. Come one hour before the show & enjoy family friendly activities. Stay after to meet the performers. Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! After Earth Hour, share your participation with #EarthHour and #EarthHourYYC. Email programs@arusha.org with questions.

There will be doughnut decorating, a magic show, and snap a photo with Olaf & Princess Anna! 10am to 1:30pm: To ensure everyone stays warm this winter, bring a new winter clothing item/accessory or a $5 cash donation to Inn From the Cold. You will receive a voucher to decorate a 3-bite Jelly Modern Doughnut (while supplies last). 10am to 2pm: Olaf will be hanging out with his best friend, Princess Anna, and taking selfies with their fans. 2 to 2:45pm: Calgary’s favorite magician, Christopher Cool, will be performing a fun Frosty magic show! Catch his very 'cool' show on the main stage. Most-needed items include new coats, snow pants, gloves, hats and snow boots for toddlers to adults.

Penguin Walk at the Calgary Zoo.

2020 marks the 8th year of the Calgary Zoo Penguin Walk! The king penguin colony heads out on the zoo grounds for a daily enrichment walk in the winter months and visitors get to experience the fun! This incredible program allows visitors to get an up-close look at the group of king penguins as they explore, exercise, and waddle their way through the zoo. This is a free-choice activity for the penguins and is subject to weather conditions.
