Calgary Recreation is partnering with Sport Calgary to showcase facility amenities and programs with a week of activities for adults! Get active, have fun, and make new friends. This Festival features lion dances, firecrackers, lantern displays, games, handicrafts, and much more! Admission is free!

Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! Join for play and storytime inspired by your child's favorite preschool characters! Book readings begin at 10 and 11am. Playtime and activities to follow each reading. Celebrate Chinese New Year with a Peppa Pig Chinese lantern make-and-take or complete a PJ Masks activity book! Share the Warmth! Join the Calgary Farmers' Market for a day of fun. There will be doughnut decorating, a magic show, and snap a photo with Olaf & Princess Anna! 10am to 1:30pm: To ensure everyone stays warm this winter, bring a new winter clothing item/accessory or a $5 cash donation to Inn From the Cold. You will receive a voucher to decorate a 3-bite Jelly Modern Doughnut (while supplies last). 10am to 2pm: Olaf will be hanging out with his best friend, Princess Anna, and taking selfies with their fans. 2 to 2:45pm: Calgary’s favorite magician, Christopher Cool, will be performing a fun Frosty magic show! Catch his very 'cool' show on the main stage. Most-needed items include new coats, snow pants, gloves, hats and snow boots for toddlers to adults.

Bearspaw Preschool would like to welcome families to their school on January 25 from 10 am to 2pm to explore the classrooms, meet the teachers and current parents. At Bearspaw Preschool, qualified teachers construct an inclusive environment that will teach to the whole child. There is a balance between structured and play-based activities to support children in their social and academic development. Your child’s educational and social experience includes circle time, playtime, learning centres, science, and arts and crafts. Additional activities involve time in the gym, outdoor activities, field trips, and special guests to further enrich and diversify the program’s offerings. Registration for the 2020-2021 school year begins January 25.

2020 marks the 8th year of the Calgary Zoo Penguin Walk! The king penguin colony heads out on the zoo grounds for a daily enrichment walk in the winter months and visitors get to experience the fun! This incredible program allows visitors to get an up-close look at the group of king penguins as they explore, exercise, and waddle their way through the zoo. This is a free-choice activity for the penguins and is subject to weather conditions.

Come out to Marlborough Mall for a Chinese New Year Celebration! To celebrate the Year of the Rat, there will be special performances, a photo booth with traditional garments by the Chinese Community Service Association (CCSA), kids crafts, and more! This free event takes place by the Family Park and Food Court.
