Earth Hour 2024.

Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! After Earth Hour, share your participation with #EarthHour and #EarthHourYYC. Email programs@arusha.org with questions.

Pumpkin Days at Calgary Farmyard.

Pumkin Days takes place Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays, September 17 to October 31. Thursdays: 10am to 5pm. Fridays to Sundays: 10am to 5:30pm. Picking the perfect pumpkin at the Farmyard is an annual tradition for many families and friends. In addition to enjoying hours of fun on the farm, pumpkins are on display for photos and for purchase. All carving pumpkin proceeds will be donated to local charities. Admission includes access to the entire farm with the exception of the Paintball gallery and gemstone mining. Pumpkins for photo ops and for purchase are available each day. Larger pumpkin displays will be set up on the weekends. Timed tickets are available on a weekly basis and must be purchased in advance as daily attendance capacities are in effect. Season passholders do not require timed tickets.

Come and enjoy an afternoon listening to stories and some of Canada’s finest musicians. Storyteller/Musician Samantha Whelan Kotkas and her friends will entertain you and your children with musical interactive tales of child-accessible hikes in the Rocky Mountains. Teach your child about courage, unity, joyfulness, and caring in an afternoon of fun and adventure. An event for the whole family that you will want to be a part of. Recommended for children aged 5 to 12, but created with the entire family in mind. Come one hour before the show & enjoy family friendly activities. Stay after to meet the performers. Kiwanis Apple Festival 2020.

Kiwanis Apple Festival is an annual free apple-themed family event. In the interest of health and safety, this year's events will be modified. There will be apple-themed Family Active Living Days at Kamp Kiwanis on September 19 and 26. The activities are free and require pre-registration through Kamp Kiwanis. Free Family Active Living Days at Kamp Kiwanis.

Come and spend active quality time together at Kamp Kiwanis! Family Active Living Days are designed for all ages to come out and enjoy the natural outdoor setting and engage in activities such as archery, canoeing, crafts, nature walks, orienteering and more. Best of all, these activities are free to participate in! Pre-registration for all activities is required. Call 403-242-9255 or email kamp.director@kampkiwanis.ca to register. You can partake in a half-day program, full-day program, or multiple days. Family Active Living Days run from 10am to 4pm on Saturdays, September 19 and 26, October 10 and 24, November 7 and 21 with the option to participate in a half-day program. September 19 and 26 are part of Kiwanis Apple Festival and Alberta Culture Days. COVID-19 Health and Safety Protocols will be in place. Programs are subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. #YYCBlockParty - Art on the Boulevard.

For the first time ever, PARK (Promoting Artists | Redefining Kulture) is partnering with Destination Deerfoot City, a 1.1 million square foot outdoor shopping centre in the northeast to launch #YYCBlockParty, a 200-foot outdoor interactive art installation and patio space featuring work by local artists Leetia Lyons, Rachel Ziriada, and Mikhail Miller of NASARIMA, Rhys Farrell, and Sydonne Warren to bring this project to life. While COVID-19 continues to impact our daily lives, Block Party provides a vibrant, accessible, and safe community space where you can engage with outdoor public art and one another while socially distancing. The installation is lined by over 200 feet of pathway and walk space and will be accompanied by art adorned picnic tables, umbrellas, and benches that meet Alberta Health Guidelines for spacing and cleaning protocols. #YYCBlockParty officially launches on July 15 at the Food Lodge at Destination Deerfoot City Outdoor Shopping Centre. It’s a spooktacular good time for the whole family! Dress up as your favorite family-friendly character and enjoy a day of fun! Join in these special adventures: Stroll through Hallotown and discover spooky scenes. Spot the details of each Hallotown scene by participating in the Hallotown Scavenger Haunt. Physically distanced, non-touch photo opportunities. Halloweekends is a display of Halloween-themed scenes that run through the south side of Calaway Park. This space is known as Hallotown. Guests can observe these scenes from the Calaway Park pathways while maintaining physical distancing. All aspects have been designed to be non-touch. Admission Entry Reservations are required.
