Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! After Earth Hour, share your participation with #EarthHour and #EarthHourYYC. Email programs@arusha.org with questions.

This month-long event will foster understanding, appreciation, and celebration of Canada’s Indigenous Peoples. Experience educational activities, cultural displays, and storytelling sessions that connect both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians. The celebrations will include: Full-Size Tipi: Step inside a tipi adorned with tapestries representing decades of Indigenous contributions to Calgary’s culture. Storytelling: Be moved by traditional stories from elders, delight in puppet shows by Indigenous authors, and explore virtual reality experiences by the Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth. Artisan Market: Discover the vibrancy of Indigenous creativity at our artisan market on June 7th and 8th. Enjoy music, dance, and locally crafted goods. 2021 marks the 9th year of the Calgary Zoo Penguin Walk! The king penguin colony heads out on zoo grounds for a daily enrichment walk in the winter months to keep their brains and bodies healthy and visitors get to experience the fun! This incredible program allows visitors to get an up-close look at the group of king penguins as they explore, exercise, and waddle their way through the zoo. This is a free-choice activity for the penguins and is subject to weather conditions* and animal inclination.

Get your buzzers ready! How well do you know your Mario trivia? Nintendo is giving you a chance to find out in A Very Mario Trivia Experience! Nintendo of Canada is hosting a free virtual event on February 15 from 11am to 12:30pm, that will give families and fans the opportunity to join and share their knowledge of the Super Mario series. Hosted by Canadian gaming experts and Mario masters Ajay Fry and Camille Salazar-Hadaway, this 90-minute event will be live-broadcast through Zoom and participants will use the Kwizzbit platform to enter responses. This event is also a My Nintendo mission and participating in it will earn you My Nintendo Platinum Points*. Pre-registration is open. Spots are limited and available on a first-come-first-served basis. Sign up early and get ready for some trivia fun!
