Youth of Distinction Awards.

Youth of Distinction Awards - recognize Calgary’s outstanding youth! The Youth of Distinction Awards (YODA) are accepting nominations until February 22. These annual awards are a great way to recognize local youth for the value they bring to our community that too often goes unnoticed. Anyone can nominate 12- to 18-year-old youth in Calgary and surrounding areas for an award. The 9 award categories include community or volunteer work, activism, sportsmanship, or even being a good friend. During the past 17 years, over 2000 youth have proudly been nominated for YODA. Nominations can be submitted online, by email or video, or regular mail. Details, award category descriptions, and nomination forms available on the website.

Bridgeland Arctic Adventure.

Takes place until March 31. The Bridgeland Arctic Adventure is a 7.5K Outdoor Adventure Circuit in Calgary and features 13 stops in the Bridgeland community, including human curling, an icefield traverse, a snow beach, and more! There are also prizes to be won by completing scavenger hunts and posting at least 3 pictures or videos at different locations on social media with the proper tags. And on weekends, check out Bridgeland Distillery‘s outdoor ice bar for winter cocktails between 2 and 6pm! Follow the latest public health and pandemic regulations. Enjoy Family Fun at WinSport's Tube Park.

The perfect activity to spend time outdoors with family! WinSport's Tube Park is one of the fastest of its kind in Western Canada. The Tube Park features eight lanes of fun and a magic carpet brings you and your tube to the top. Washrooms are available on-site. The Tube Park is open on weekends and holidays (weather permitting). Tickets must be purchased online in advance. Check out the 'Know Before You Go' information on the website. Cost is $20 to $25 per person.

YYC Hot Chocolate Fest .

This year marks the 10th Anniversary of Calgary’s Sweetest Festival! Every February, participating cafés, restaurants, and chocolatiers compete for the coveted titles of YYC’s Best Hot Chocolate, Best Spirited Hot Chocolate, and special Cup That Runneth Over Award. Calgarians can sip a variety of hot cocoas and determine the blend that roasts them all! $1 (non-spirited) to $2 (spirited) from every cup sold supports Calgary Meals on Wheels, thereby directly providing nutritious meals to Calgarians. 2021 marks the 9th year of the Calgary Zoo Penguin Walk! The king penguin colony heads out on zoo grounds for a daily enrichment walk in the winter months to keep their brains and bodies healthy and visitors get to experience the fun! This incredible program allows visitors to get an up-close look at the group of king penguins as they explore, exercise, and waddle their way through the zoo. This is a free-choice activity for the penguins and is subject to weather conditions* and animal inclination.
