Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! Takes place until March 31. The Bridgeland Arctic Adventure is a 7.5K Outdoor Adventure Circuit in Calgary and features 13 stops in the Bridgeland community, including human curling, an icefield traverse, a snow beach, and more! There are also prizes to be won by completing scavenger hunts and posting at least 3 pictures or videos at different locations on social media with the proper tags. This year marks the 10th Anniversary of Calgary’s Sweetest Festival! Every February, participating cafés, restaurants, and chocolatiers compete for the coveted titles of YYC’s Best Hot Chocolate, Best Spirited Hot Chocolate, and special Cup That Runneth Over Award. Calgarians can sip a variety of hot cocoas and determine the blend that roasts them all! $1 (non-spirited) to $2 (spirited) from every cup sold supports Calgary Meals on Wheels, thereby directly providing nutritious meals to Calgarians. Lougheed House presents the Snowbird Festival as part of Chinook Blast! Join in the Beaulieu Gardens (museum temporarily closed) and explore the Winter Garden ice sculptures and the Play, Place & Pretence pop-up art installation. 2021 marks the 9th year of the Calgary Zoo Penguin Walk! The king penguin colony heads out on zoo grounds for a daily enrichment walk in the winter months to keep their brains and bodies healthy and visitors get to experience the fun! This incredible program allows visitors to get an up-close look at the group of king penguins as they explore, exercise, and waddle their way through the zoo. This is a free-choice activity for the penguins and is subject to weather conditions* and animal inclination.

Test your knowledge of creature courtship while enjoying an evening of beers and cheers! Join the Calgary Zoo for a Pub Quiz that delves into how animals show their love. Dinner, drinks, live quiz rounds, and prizes make up this adults-only (18+) experience. Explore the zoo grounds before settling down at your table for two, a pub-style meal, and trivia about nature's most passionate creatures. First entry: 3 to 3:30pm; last entry: 6pm.
