Earth Hour 2024.

Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! After Earth Hour, share your participation with #EarthHour and #EarthHourYYC. Email programs@arusha.org with questions.

June 30 to August 29. Wednesdays to Fridays, Noon to 7pm. Saturdays & Sundays, 10am to 5pm. WinSport's fun and intermediate 18-hole outdoor course will challenge all ages and abilities. It is a great way to get outdoors with your household. WinSport requires participants to be members of the same household or your two close contacts if you live alone. Mini Golf is $30 + GST (for up to five people from the same household or your two close contacts if you live alone). The course will take up to 60 minutes to complete. Tickets must be purchased online in advance.

YYC Summer Cool-er, Presented by Calgary Meals on Wheels.

Calgary Meals on Wheels Presents, YYC Summer Cool-er, a new event aimed at supporting local businesses while raising funds to help keep Calgarians well-fed. Some of the city’s favorite local businesses and organizations will host Cool Promos - the sale of unique goods or services - with partial proceeds helping Calgary Meals on Wheels. Supporting these businesses means supporting your neighbors and community. This year’s inaugural event will feature friends of YYC Hot Chocolate Fest and new partners, including: Tourism Calgary; Metrovino; Rosso Coffee; Amato Gelato; TBB Desserts; Amihan Grill; Bakeshop Italiano Please!; Cornerstone Music Cafe; Pixie's Candy Parlour; Sawa Market and Cafe; Cafe Jindo; and Aroma Cafe Bar. Calgary Zoo - "Dinosaurs: Awakened".

Based on the success of the past “Dinosaurs Alive” exhibit, the Calgary Zoo is introducing 26 new realistic animatronic dinosaurs (across 17 species) within Prehistoric Park, from the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods, covering the zoo’s regions including Canada, Asia, Africa, South America, and Antarctica. The exhibit, designed to educate, as well as entertain, encourages visitors to go on an immersive journey through the newly designed Prehistoric Park to experience what it may have been like to roam the Earth with the dinosaurs, while inspiring action to prevent the loss of endangered species today. “Dinosaurs: Awakened” will be viewable within Prehistoric Park until October 31, and is included in the price of daily admission. Tickets can be purchased from the Calgary Zoo website.

Wagonstage Children's Theatre Presents, Bev the Builder.

Please visit the website for performance dates. Bev the Builder follows the story of a young beaver named Bev living in a river with her parents. Bev is trying to learn how to fix a hole that has formed in her dam, but the water in the river is moving fast, and the sticks keep getting washed away. Her parents leave Bev to keep trying while they look for sticks in the forest. Frustrated yet determined, Bev sets out on her own to find more sticks so she may continue trying. Wagonstage Children’s Theatre is part of the University of Calgary’s School of Creative and Performing Arts. There are 2 shows a day at 10am and 11:30am. Doors open 30 minutes before show time.

"Joy" is a collaboration between the Alberta University of the Arts and ATB Art Vault. This free exhibition is available for viewing July 8 to August 29, showcasing artwork from 6 AUArts Alumni. Each artist shares work in this exhibition that embodies their relationships to the Joy they feel in their lives. Featured Alumni artists include Daniel Labutes - ceramic vase, Joy in making. Jiaqi Xie - 3 ceramics, symbols of cultural Joy. Janira Moncayo - video with sound, celebration of cultural and marginalized peoples Joy. Naomi Fong - paintings of cats in garden, disability Joy.
