Hygge Hut - pronounced “hoo-ga” - is the East Village's Scandinavian-style space inspired by the Danish idea of Hygge, which means a special kind of well-being - a cozy, easy togetherness. This season, Hygge Hut was reimagined to be bigger, better, and cozier than ever and has a new home in C-Square! There are weekly interactive live ice carving demonstrations, pop-up food trucks, hot chocolate, fireside storytimes, community dog walks, live music, and no shortage of good company! (You’ll know you’re in the right place when the familiar smell of campfire hits your nose and gives you all the camping and nature feels without having to leave the city.) Hygge Hut is open Fridays, 2 to 6pm, Saturdays, Sundays, and Statutory Holidays Noon to 6pm until March.

Join us at Southcentre Mall from June 3rd to 23rd for our fourth annual Indigenous History Month celebration in partnership with Authentically Indigenous. This month-long event will foster understanding, appreciation, and celebration of Canada’s Indigenous Peoples. Experience educational activities, cultural displays, and storytelling sessions that connect both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians. The celebrations will include: Full-Size Tipi: Step inside a tipi adorned with tapestries representing decades of Indigenous contributions to Calgary’s culture. Storytelling: Be moved by traditional stories from elders, delight in puppet shows by Indigenous authors, and explore virtual reality experiences by the Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth. Artisan Market: Discover the vibrancy of Indigenous creativity at our artisan market on June 7th and 8th. Enjoy music, dance, and locally crafted goods. Educational Information Walls: Learn and engage with displays that provide deeper insights into Indigenous culture.

The Ice Magic Ice Carving Competition is a perfectly magical winter experience that awaits your family in Lake Louise where ice serves as a fascinating medium of artistry and architectural design. The Calgary Zoo is starting the year off with waddle! The 2022 Penguin Walk, presented by RE/MAX, marks the 10th year of the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo's penguin walk. During the winter months, the king penguin colony heads out on zoo grounds for a daily enrichment walk to keep their brains and bodies healthy and visitors get to experience the fun! This incredible program allows you to get an up-close look at the group of king penguins as they explore, exercise, and waddle their way through the zoo. This is a free-choice activity for the penguins and is subject to weather conditions and animal inclination.

Bring a friend to the studio and get your admission free! From December 15 to January 31, Artpourings Studio is celebrating friendship! Bring a friend who has never been to the studio and introduce them to the fun! Artists can choose many different materials and ways to create at the studio. From painting to sewing, drawing to simple electronics. Creativity is Artpourings' jam!

Chan Hon Goh’s Canadian Masterclass Series is a prestigious opportunity for young dancers to receive mentorship and personalized instruction from one of North America’s most celebrated ballerinas. Open to students ages 10+, the Series will visit 17 Canadian cities for a variety of virtual and in-studio sessions from January to March. Celebrate a return to the stages we’ve missed so much with Ms. Goh as she helps students elevate artistry, individuality, and performance interpretation using variations from the iconic classical ballet, Swan Lake. Ms. Goh will nurture emotional artistic nuances, whilst fostering the unique qualities of every dancer. Participants are eligible for select scholarship awards.
