Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! Join us at Southcentre Mall from June 3rd to 23rd for our fourth annual Indigenous History Month celebration in partnership with Authentically Indigenous. This month-long event will foster understanding, appreciation, and celebration of Canada’s Indigenous Peoples. Experience educational activities, cultural displays, and storytelling sessions that connect both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians. The celebrations will include: Full-Size Tipi: Step inside a tipi adorned with tapestries representing decades of Indigenous contributions to Calgary’s culture. Storytelling: Be moved by traditional stories from elders, delight in puppet shows by Indigenous authors, and explore virtual reality experiences by the Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth. Artisan Market: Discover the vibrancy of Indigenous creativity at our artisan market on June 7th and 8th. Enjoy music, dance, and locally crafted goods. Educational Information Walls: Learn and engage with displays that provide deeper insights into Indigenous culture.

: Eggstravaganza is back with family-friendly fun designed to help you say ‘goodbye’ to winter and ‘hello’ to the warmer weather! Your kiddo gets to have some fun and enjoy seeing their favourite animals while supporting an important cause - wildlife conservation! We’re spreading the fun over four days so choose the day that works best for you and hop your way over to the zoo!?It's going to be an EGG-cellent time!? DAILY ACTIVITIES: • The Great Hatch Hunt?– Don't forget to bring your cell phone because you won't want to miss out on the fun of our?virtual egg hunt! Look for the giant egg signs around the zoo and use your phone to scan the QR code to?play along! Did we mention there's prizes to be won?! • Egg-cellent Touchtables?– while you’re out exploring the zoo grounds, be sure to stop by our egg-cellent touchtables where our volunteers will be talking about all things eggs. They will even have some biofacts to show related to egg laying species at the zoo. • Zoo Egg Photo Ops?– Be sure to hop on over to one of our fun photo ops and don your best ‘hatching face’ as you hatch from an egg! What happens at our Barnyard Baby Days? Good-times-to-remember-forever with all our spring adorables (lambs, goats, bunnies, cows, piglets, chicks…) and other fun experiences. Its spring on the farm! We will have special signs around the farm with info on specific moms and babies, lots of cute spring PHOTO OPS, the opportunity to see and maybe even help with BOTTLE FEEDING our spring babies, and some heart-warming up-close moments with some favourite farm animals! Have a safe time at the farm: your Adult/Child ratio must be 1:3 or better, and all attendees must follow all Farm Safety Rules. Make some fun spring family memories! Warning! HOP ALONG THE BUNNY TRAIL IN MARDA LOOP! The EASTER BUNNY is coming to Marda Loop to hide chocolates all around for your little bunnies to find! Bring your baskets down to #mardaloop for one of our most popular FREE family events! When: Saturday, April 16 from 11 am – 3 pm. Location: All around Marda Loop at various locations (locations to be announced closer to event date). What: Join us for one of Marda Loop’s most popular family events, Marda EggFest is a fun-filled, community-wide Easter egg hunt. We will have a wandering Easter Bunny, face-painting, paper egg decorating and other fun. Adults will also be given the opportunity to fill out a ballot for an Easter Basket full of prizes donated by local businesses. The ballots will be provided in advance and then picked up by the BIA. Shoppers are encouraged to share photos of the event across social media using #MardaEggFest

Takes place November 19 to January 2 (excluding November 23, 28 & 30 and December 3, 25 & 31). ZOOLIGHTS, presented by Olympia Trust Company, is back for its 25th year! This year's ZOOLIGHTS will feature exciting new themed areas and activities including a 25th anniversary Memory Lane, the Nutcracker in the ENMAX Conservatory, and an all-new “Tunnel of Light,” a tribute to Canada’s wetland, a holiday Zoo Market, and a very special “Dinos at Night” experience like you have never seen before! Of course, the Zoo is bringing back all the classic activities everyone has come to love like the Skating Rink, Fire pits, and Rival Axe Throwing. ZOOLIGHTS comes to life at night with twinkling lights at every turn, including over 200 light figurines, along with interactive and choreographed light displays. The lights are turned on at 5pm nightly and run until 9pm. It takes approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours to experience all that ZOOLIGHTS has to offer - but you are able to stay for as little or as long as you like!

"Graveyards and Gardens" is a collaborative performance installation conceived, created and performed by composer Caroline Shaw and choreographer Vanessa Goodman with lighting design by James Proudfoot and audio design by Eric Chad and Kate De Lorme. Co-produced by Shaw and Goodman, this new work examines memory as a process of reconstruction rather than an exact recall of fixed events, embracing the various elaborations, distortions, and omissions.

Mr. Kim, a Korean shopkeeper, grapples with both a changing neighbourhood landscape and the chasm between him and his second-generation offspring. This journey of a fractured but loving family forgiving the past, and confronting the future, is a Canadian classic.
