Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! Join us at Southcentre Mall from June 3rd to 23rd for our fourth annual Indigenous History Month celebration in partnership with Authentically Indigenous. This month-long event will foster understanding, appreciation, and celebration of Canada’s Indigenous Peoples. Experience educational activities, cultural displays, and storytelling sessions that connect both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians. The celebrations will include: Full-Size Tipi: Step inside a tipi adorned with tapestries representing decades of Indigenous contributions to Calgary’s culture. Storytelling: Be moved by traditional stories from elders, delight in puppet shows by Indigenous authors, and explore virtual reality experiences by the Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth. Artisan Market: Discover the vibrancy of Indigenous creativity at our artisan market on June 7th and 8th. Enjoy music, dance, and locally crafted goods. Educational Information Walls: Learn and engage with displays that provide deeper insights into Indigenous culture.

This annual 2-day spring art show and sale at the Bridgeland-Riverside Community Association features 25 different artists showcasing: Painting, Jewelry, Glass, Photography, Ceramics, Sculpture, and Textiles. Local artists have the opportunity to share their inspirations and techniques with each other and the viewing public. Comfortably browse and shop for unique handmade gifts or treat yourself to fine art. Free parking and admission, draws, and no GST. Join in building community spirit through the arts!

Visit Southcentre Mall on Saturday, April 23 from 10am-2pm for a special Earth Day celebration! In addition to Southcentre’s permanent recycling bins for paper, cardboard, beverage containers and clothing, you will also be able to recycle metals and old electronics in the southeast parking lot next to CIBC. Local recycling partners, Federal Metals and Village Electronics Recycling, will be onsite to collect recyclable items and provide information at our Earth Day learning hub. The learning hub will be located indoors on the second level near H&M and will also include an eco-friendly art station for guests to make a fun take-home craft out of recycled cardboard. A giant Earth Day picture frame for guests to take photos inside of will also be on display and will feature a unique design using recycled materials. Those planning to attend are encouraged to check online for what items will and will not be accepted by each recycling partner in advance.

What happens at our Barnyard Baby Days? Good-times-to-remember-forever with all our spring adorables (lambs, goats, bunnies, cows, piglets, chicks…) and other fun experiences. Its spring on the farm! We will have special signs around the farm with info on specific moms and babies, lots of cute spring PHOTO OPS, the opportunity to see and maybe even help with BOTTLE FEEDING our spring babies, and some heart-warming up-close moments with some favourite farm animals! Have a safe time at the farm: your Adult/Child ratio must be 1:3 or better, and all attendees must follow all Farm Safety Rules. Make some fun spring family memories! Warning! The Calgary Comics & Entertainment Expo is a four-day pop-culture convention celebrating its 15th Anniversary, April 21-24 in Calgary, Alberta at Stampede Park — and it’s one of the biggest events of its kind in the world! Attendees can shop hundreds of vendors and exhibitors, check out panels and workshops, meet their favourite stars and creators, and celebrate what makes them geeky with thousands of other fans in cosplay. There is something for every fan at Calgary Expo, and fun for all ages! Every year, stars from every corner of the fandom galaxy come to Calgary Expo. In 2022, fans can meet the hobbits from 'The Lord of The Rings' (Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Dominic Monaghan, and Billy Boyd), 'The Trailer Park Boys', Ming-Na Wen, John Cleese, William Shatner, the 'Clerks' cast including 'Jay and Slient Bob' (Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith), as well as comic book artists, writers and creators, voice actors, cosplayers, and more! This year's ZOOLIGHTS will feature exciting new themed areas and activities including a 25th anniversary Memory Lane, the Nutcracker in the ENMAX Conservatory, and an all-new “Tunnel of Light,” a tribute to Canada’s wetland, a holiday Zoo Market, and a very special “Dinos at Night” experience like you have never seen before! Of course, the Zoo is bringing back all the classic activities everyone has come to love like the Skating Rink, Fire pits, and Rival Axe Throwing. ZOOLIGHTS comes to life at night with twinkling lights at every turn, including over 200 light figurines, along with interactive and choreographed light displays. The lights are turned on at 5pm nightly and run until 9pm. It takes approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours to experience all that ZOOLIGHTS has to offer - but you are able to stay for as little or as long as you like!
