Glorie, a newly minted volunteer hospice worker and experienced city lawyer shows up to visit and maybe even save the day. The comedic clash of an illiterate rural woman and an overly sophisticated urban lawyer means that neither of their lives will ever be the same again.

Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! After Earth Hour, share your participation with #EarthHour and #EarthHourYYC. Email programs@arusha.org with questions.

Puppet Power: Festival of Ideas, the 10 edition, animates the theme of Celebration! We look at the role inanimate objects have had in ceremonies since time immemorial. We explores the impact and potential of Applied Puppetry in all sorts of of practices. We wonder, who’s at the party, who’s not and whether it’s time to take back the carnival! Local, national, and international master puppeteers and presenters will provide inspiring talks/panels, practical how-to workshops, and puppetry-based performances. NEW THIS YEAR: Intermissions! an online networking and idea exchange hosted by special guests. Spend an hour of informal conversation, exploring ideas around puppetry and “celebration events” – everything from birthday parties to end of life celebrations… from social rituals to social justice. More than just entertainment and information sharing… our Festival of Ideas is about making authentic connections, having meaningful conversations on important topics, and motivating a call to action to use the power of puppetry to impact positive social change. And just when all hope seems lost, a most unexpected hero rises up and takes centre stage. The power of optimism really can save the world! The show is planned to be presented at 50 percent capacity. Should provincial restrictions be lifted, more seats may be made available.
