Alberta Dance Theatre's Free Audition Workshop.
> Sunday May 29, 2022 at 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Each spring, Alberta Dance Theatre holds open call placement auditions inviting youth artists looking for a space to express the creativity to join the company. ADT welcomes dancers of all experience levels and uses the auditions as a way to place the dancers in the appropriate performance group. Join us on May 29, 2022 at Decidedly Jazz Danceworks for two dance classes and brainstorming for next season's show! You'll meet the Co-Artistic Directors and your fellow youth artists! Rehearsals for Alberta Dance Theatre run on Sundays from September to December and culminate in multiple performances at a professional theatre venue. Youth artists are paired with professional choreographers, theatre artists, a lighting designer and a composer to collaborate on the show as equal contributors. A piece of child's literature is used as inspiration for the original show presented to public and school audiences. Formerly known as Children in Dance, Alberta Dance Theatre has been a part of the Calgary dance community since 1979. Alberta Dance Theatre's roots are in the contemporary, creative dance experience but explores storytelling through movement in all genres of dance. The annual rehearsal process and production also features acting and theatre training. Four Full Program Scholarships are available for the 2022 - 2023 Season. Applications are due August 20, 2022. Applicants are encouraged to attend the Free Audition Workshop on May 29, 2022.
