Join AAWC and partners for this week-long celebration of events that promote pride, understanding and awareness of Aboriginal cultures, traditions, contributions and achievements to Canadian society. Since 2011, the week leading up to National Aboriginal Day, June 21, is known locally as Aboriginal Awareness Week Calgary or AAWC.

Since 2007, Sled Island's thoughtful, eclectic programming and independent spirit have produced a one-of-a-kind festival experience. Each June, the 5-day music and arts festival brings together a community of music, comedy, film and art as well as over 40,000 attendees across multiple venues, earning rave reviews from attendees, artists and media across the globe.

Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! Musicians, actors, magicians, jugglers, street performers, dancers, b-boys, singers & entertainers of all ages and acts are spread throughout the streets of downtown Okotoks for this fun street festival. It’s all free - if you like what you hear, show your appreciation for the performances with whatever you can afford! Plus, shop at the local downtown stores, as well as at the artisan street market, which will feature vendors spread throughout downtown.

The YYC Summer Scoop Fest is a nine-day ice cream event that celebrates the end of another school year and the start of a great summer. Grab a Summer Passport from participating vendors and start trying all the featured ice cream creations. Collect signatures on your passport for a chance to win prizes from the participating vendors.

For National Insect Week, Weaselhead Glenmore Park Preservation Society will be holding a bug hunt. Naturalists will lead you through the park to see what insects make their homes in Weaselhead Park. Stop at various locations and conduct a leaf litter study to take a closer look at what might be hiding from plain sight.

Parkland Summerfest is a community festival bringing people together for a fun and memorable festival in Parkland’s beautiful Park 96.

Come and enjoy an afternoon listening to stories and some of Canada’s finest musicians. Storyteller/Musician Samantha Whelan Kotkas and her friends will entertain you and your children with musical interactive tales of child-accessible hikes in the Rocky Mountains. Teach your child about courage, unity, joyfulness, and caring in an afternoon of fun and adventure. An event for the whole family that you will want to be a part of. Takes place November 19 to January 2 (excluding November 23, 28 & 30 and December 3, 25 & 31). ZOOLIGHTS, presented by Olympia Trust Company, is back for its 25th year! This year's ZOOLIGHTS will feature exciting new themed areas and activities including a 25th anniversary Memory Lane, the Nutcracker in the ENMAX Conservatory, and an all-new “Tunnel of Light,” a tribute to Canada’s wetland, a holiday Zoo Market, and a very special “Dinos at Night” experience like you have never seen before! Of course, the Zoo is bringing back all the classic activities everyone has come to love like the Skating Rink, Fire pits, and Rival Axe Throwing. ZOOLIGHTS comes to life at night with twinkling lights at every turn, including over 200 light figurines, along with interactive and choreographed light displays. The lights are turned on at 5pm nightly and run until 9pm. It takes approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours to experience all that ZOOLIGHTS has to offer - but you are able to stay for as little or as long as you like!
