Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! Western Canada’s first film festival for commuters, proudly brought to you by PATTISON Onestop and The Film and Video Arts Society of Alberta (FAVA). This year, the 30 selected films will be shown on Pattison Onestop screens in Edmonton and Calgary (such as the Edmonton LRT and the Calgary C-train), in select Edmonton Public Library and Calgary Public Library locations, in the lobby of the Metro Cinema, and online.

Beginning May 1, the Bow Habitat Station’s Kids Can Catch Trout Pond is open for the season. This pond is stocked with rainbow trout raised in the fish hatchery for you to catch and release. Visit bowhabitat.alberta.ca for more information.

Join us at Southcentre Mall from June 3rd to 23rd for our fourth annual Indigenous History Month celebration in partnership with Authentically Indigenous. This month-long event will foster understanding, appreciation, and celebration of Canada’s Indigenous Peoples. Experience educational activities, cultural displays, and storytelling sessions that connect both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians. The celebrations will include: Full-Size Tipi: Step inside a tipi adorned with tapestries representing decades of Indigenous contributions to Calgary’s culture. Storytelling: Be moved by traditional stories from elders, delight in puppet shows by Indigenous authors, and explore virtual reality experiences by the Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth. Artisan Market: Discover the vibrancy of Indigenous creativity at our artisan market on June 7th and 8th. Enjoy music, dance, and locally crafted goods. This is an 45 min, 16 week class held on Thursdays at 3:45 | September to January 2022-23 We sing and listen and play our way to a deeper understanding of music. Creating lasting cherished memories with a special adult to delight in the fun and continue the learning at home. Imaginations develop through stories, songs and movement activities. We will discover advance musical concepts and be introduced and exposed to music masterpieces. These young children will participate in fun physical activities and have opportunities to boisterously participate either with the comfort of their parent or be able to join the group activities with their teacher and friends. We listen to and sing and move and play to old favorites and learn new exciting ways to prepare to enter private music lessons.
