Southcentre Mall and Little Red Reading House invite you to explore the ‘Spooky Reading Tree’ this Halloween season. The larger-than-life Spooky Reading Tree will take centre stage in Southcentre’s Centre Court, featuring a reading nook and a variety of vignettes inspired by popular fairytales, including Hansel and Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood, The Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, and Snow White. Guests will have the opportunity to explore the reading tree and use the various tableaus as the backdrop for self-directed family photo ops. Community story times will also take place, during which families can enjoy dramatic readings of beloved childhood stories.

You can celebrate the changing of seasons by riding Granary Road’s Hayrides, taking Instagrammable pictures with our fall décor (such as our multiple scarecrows, hay bales, and infamous orange truck!) & more. Purchase locally grown pumpkins to carve, enjoy some hot apple cider, and shop our vendors to get in the season’s spirit! ‘Wolves: The Art of Dempsey Bob’ at Glenbow.

Experience the work of Tahltan-Tlingit master carver Dempsey Bob at the immersive ‘Wolves: The Art of Dempsey Bob’ exhibition. The exhibition features 65 works and is the first-ever retrospective of Bob’s career from the 1970s to the present. Visitors to the exhibition will discover a selection of masks, sculpture and regalia, complemented by Bob’s work in bronze casting and vestment production. In his works, Bob reinterprets the traditional characters and iconography from the age-old stories of his people, at times transforming those traditional tales with European influences. Campfire Guitar Bootcamp 101 for Youth.

This is a 1 hour, 10 week class held Thursday evenings at 6:00 pm, beginning September 22, 2022 Youth Campfire Bootcamp 101 for 9-13 year olds is a spinoff of the popular Campfire Bootcamp 101 for adults. Whether just beginning or experienced, students are given the opportunity to play and sing fun, varied songs appropriate to their age group. The songs are written out in an easy to understand format with basic instruction on how to approach accompaniment and soloing. Variations are included on how to expand those techniques to ensure all students reach their potential. Class size is kept small so students receive personalized instruction and the setlist is chosen primarily by the students. Topics explored include: Open Position Chords Bass Lines Singing while Playing Simple Melodies Basic Lead Technique Percussive Accompaniment No experience is necessary, however basic guitar technique is helpful. Enrollees are required to have their own instrument and a capo.
