Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! each year on Remembrance Day, we gather to ensure we never forget. The helicopter landing area behind The Hangar Flight Museum was once a parade square during the Second World War as part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. Eagle Copters partner with the museum to host the service in this space.

This year’s ceremony begins at 10am, with the arrival of VIPs and guests of honor. At 10:57am, “Last Post” is performed and flags are lowered, followed by two minutes of silence and the laying of ceremonial wreaths.

Observe Remembrance Day at Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre. At 11am a special rendition of “The Last Post” will commence on the trumpet by internationally known trumpeter Karen Gustafson followed by two minutes of silence in remembrance of the fallen men and women who served our nation.

Join Fort Calgary in the Burnswest Theatre for a free Remembrance Day service offered in partnership with the RCMP Veterans’ Association, Calgary Division. The program will include a commemorative address and benediction prayer and a commemorative address from George Pambrum (Sgt. Major, Ret.) of the Métis Nation of Alberta. Space is limited and registration is required.

An indoor Remembrance Day service commemorating the sacrifices of members of all armed forces who served and continue to serve, during times of conflict and peace.

Tickets are available at the door and parking is free. The Calgary Girls Choir will be participating in the service. Weather permitting, there will be a march past outside on the west side of the building, immediately following the indoor ceremony.

This Remembrance Day ceremony pays tribute to the more than 33000 CP employees who served and is open to the public at the CP Head Office. The ceremony continues the company’s annual tradition of honoring veterans at CP’s Memorial Square, built to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War.

This year's ZOOLIGHTS will feature exciting new themed areas and activities including a 25th anniversary Memory Lane, the Nutcracker in the ENMAX Conservatory, and an all-new “Tunnel of Light,” a tribute to Canada’s wetland, a holiday Zoo Market, and a very special “Dinos at Night” experience like you have never seen before! Of course, the Zoo is bringing back all the classic activities everyone has come to love like the Skating Rink, Fire pits, and Rival Axe Throwing. ZOOLIGHTS comes to life at night with twinkling lights at every turn, including over 200 light figurines, along with interactive and choreographed light displays. The lights are turned on at 5pm nightly and run until 9pm. It takes approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours to experience all that ZOOLIGHTS has to offer - but you are able to stay for as little or as long as you like!
