Arts Commons takes over Olympic Plaza with a weekend of ArtsXpeditions outdoor concerts. Saturday programming kicks off with a day of funky hip hop and R&B acts that will have the whole family moving.

The Chinook Blast 2023 Asian Market will have a colorful and bright display with Asian features, lantern posts and LED lighting around the City Hall Atrium. Asian exhibitors will be invited to feature their traditional and cultural wear, products, and activities. There will be an exhibitor zone (products and packed food, outfits, etc.), a games zone, and an Asian Arts Zone for our attendees to enjoy and support.

Join Kensington Sinfonia, StoryMusic and Green Fools Theatre for a unique amalgam of storytelling, chamber music and puppetry! Little Red Riding Hood with Beethoven features a new version of the traditional fairy tale - with a surprise ending! This story was first available by video in January 2021 as a Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra Education Concert. Alto Julie Freedman Smith narrates and sings Little Red Riding Hood accompanied by Beethoven’s String Quartet Op. 95, performed by members of Kensington Sinfonia, with puppetry by Green Fools Theatre. Be a part of this one-of-a-kind, engaging experience. The show is most suited to elementary school-aged children, but is created for all to enjoy. This approximately 55-minute free concert will take place at Central Library Performance Hall (800 3 Street SE, Calgary).  Tickets are $10, but to make the event accessible and affordable to all, audience members can use promo codes for either 50% or 100% off to create a pricing that works for them.
