Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! Canada’s Filipino Restaurant Month is a chance for diners to explore the diverse culinary scene of the Philippines with participating restaurants across Canada.

A group of local artists led by pysanky master Daena Diduck, will design 14 three-dimensional eggs ranging from three to six feet tall, one for each month that the war has been ongoing in Ukraine. The eggs will be displayed at the mall as public art until the end of the month, when they will be sold in a silent auction with proceeds going to two Ukrainian support organizations.

Neufeld Institute Conference 2023 is coming up ONLINE on Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm Pacific Time. This year's theme is Wisdom of Nature, featuring TED-style talks by Gordon Neufeld, Deborah MacNamara, and Tamara Strijack, each followed by a panel discussion, with special guests Gabor Maté and Daniel Maté. This conference is suitable for parents, educators and helping professionals. It is the sole fundraiser for the Neufeld Institute, a non-profit, registered charitable organization, whose mission is to use developmental science to make sense of children to the adults responsible for them. Registration includes access to the livestream conference plus all session recordings for 90 days. The early-bird conference fee is $120 CAD until 5 pm March 22, 2023, after which time the fee is $135 CAD. A discount of 10% is available for groups of 10 or more. University of Calgary students will speak on the latest, fastest, smallest and most fascinating new research in physics.Space Night will feature access to an array of telescopes operated by University of Calgary astronomers and members of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada – Calgary Centre.
