Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! Aboriginal Awareness Week Calgary’s Family Day Festival and Powwow is an annual event, held each year near National Indigenous Peoples Day. The event is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities and their rich heritages, traditions and cultures. Everyone — Indigenous people and non-Indigenous people — are invited to attend this special event.

Spend a day learning the basics of fingerweaving from Métis artisans. In this beginner’s workshop, participants will get a hands-on learning experience and learn how to measure, cut and dowel their own weaving project focused on the stipple, diagonal stripe, and chevron patterns.

Visit the Southcentre Mall Indigenous History Month Artisan Market, organized by Authentically Indigenous in celebration of Indigenous culture while supporting local businesses. The two-day event will run from June 23rd to 24th and will showcase 12 unique vendors, including Southcentre retailer, Manitobah. The market will begin with an opening ceremony that will take place at 11:30 a.m. on June 23rd, featuring a prayer and blessing from an elder as well as traditional dance and drum demonstrations. In partnership with Authentically Indigenous, the market promotes understanding and awareness of Indigenous Peoples, honouring their stories, achievements, and creativity. In addition, guests will be able to discover more about Indigenous culture from a set of educational information walls.

This year we are offering Tanks and Tacos the VIP Experience.
