Recommended for children aged 5 to 12, but created with the entire family in mind. Come one hour before the show & enjoy family friendly activities. Stay after to meet the performers. This month-long event will foster understanding, appreciation, and celebration of Canada’s Indigenous Peoples. Experience educational activities, cultural displays, and storytelling sessions that connect both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians. The celebrations will include: Full-Size Tipi: Step inside a tipi adorned with tapestries representing decades of Indigenous contributions to Calgary’s culture. Storytelling: Be moved by traditional stories from elders, delight in puppet shows by Indigenous authors, and explore virtual reality experiences by the Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth. Artisan Market: Discover the vibrancy of Indigenous creativity at our artisan market on June 7th and 8th. Enjoy music, dance, and locally crafted goods. Educational Information Walls: Learn and engage with displays that provide deeper insights into Indigenous culture.

Canstruction® Calgary.

Canstruction® Calgary brings together teams of engineers, designers, architects and builders to create extraordinary structures out of non-perishable food items. The structures are judged, exhibited to the public, and then de-canstructed, with food going to the Calgary Food Bank. This year, structures are inspired by the theme: Retro Toys and Games, You CAN Play. Nine teams have used more than 44,000 cans of food to create structures that will remain on display at Southcentre Mall until April 21st. Calgarians coming to view the installation are invited to bring a donation of non-perishable items and to vote for their favourite structure in the People’s Choice Awards beginning April 9th. The structures will also be judged by a panel of esteemed Calgarians on April 20th.
