The celebrations will include: Full-Size Tipi: Step inside a tipi adorned with tapestries representing decades of Indigenous contributions to Calgary’s culture. Storytelling: Be moved by traditional stories from elders, delight in puppet shows by Indigenous authors, and explore virtual reality experiences by the Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth. Artisan Market: Discover the vibrancy of Indigenous creativity at our artisan market on June 7th and 8th. Enjoy music, dance, and locally crafted goods. Educational Information Walls: Learn and engage with displays that provide deeper insights into Indigenous culture.

The Eastside Dance Festival Society presents an electrifying showcase of outstanding dance programs from 17 CBE and CSSD Schools at the U of C Theatre. Over 450 dancers will perform and some will share over $100,000 in scholarships and cash prizes to support continued dance education after high school. Prior to each performance on May 9th and 10th, we are holding a FREE parent engagement session at the Eckhardt Gramatté Hall in U of C’s Rosza Centre from 5:00 pm. Esteemed local dance educators, academics and professional artists will share their career pathways and the most recent research conducted on the benefits of dance for developing young minds and bodies.
