Calgary Young People’s Theatre has seven youth-led shows in the Cannonball! Festival, as well as two staged readings at at West Village Theatre. You heard that right – every show is directed, written, designed, stage managed, produced, and performed by youth age ten to 19.

Directed by Ron Jenkins, this whimsical and enchanting comedy takes you on a wild journey through a magical forest. Filled with mischievous fairies, bumbling actors, and star-crossed lovers, this piece weaves together love, mistaken identities, and hilarious misunderstandings.

Join us at Southcentre Mall from June 3rd to 23rd for our fourth annual Indigenous History Month celebration in partnership with Authentically Indigenous. This month-long event will foster understanding, appreciation, and celebration of Canada’s Indigenous Peoples. The literary arts festival is for classrooms from kindergarten to Grade 9 and encourages creativity, social connections, and skill development. Schools in the Calgary area can register for virtual sessions to learn more about literary arts while individual students can get inspired during in-person programs at select Library locations.

Violins of Hope is a poignant collection of string instruments dating from before and during the Holocaust. These meticulously restored instruments once belonged to Jewish victims of the Holocaust. Runs daily Wed-Sun at 2 pm starting May 29. Take a 60-minute guided walking tour around the vibrant lands at The Confluence and learn some of the many histories of this significant place, including the history of the NWMP and their contribution to the birth of the city of Calgary, the railway, and the ways that many people have used this site since time immemorial. The walk is approximately 1.5 km and covers various terrains. Walks take place rain or shine, so come dressed for the weather. Access to the cultural centre requires additional admission.
