This month-long event will foster understanding, appreciation, and celebration of Canada’s Indigenous Peoples. The celebrations will include: Full-Size Tipi: Step inside a tipi adorned with tapestries representing decades of Indigenous contributions to Calgary’s culture. Storytelling: Be moved by traditional stories from elders, delight in puppet shows by Indigenous authors, and explore virtual reality experiences by the Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth. Artisan Market: Discover the vibrancy of Indigenous creativity at our artisan market on June 7th and 8th. Enjoy music, dance, and locally crafted goods. Educational Information Walls: Learn and engage with displays that provide deeper insights into Indigenous culture.

All are welcome to join the Walk for Reconciliation for an opportunity to reflect on the difficult history and atrocities of residential schools in Canada, the legacies of survivors, and steps we can take in the healing process as we move towards a stronger future together. We encourage participants to bring any banners, signs, or flags you would like to display during the Walk.

Summer solstice is the longest day of the year, and for many it marks the official start of the season. Celebrate at Spark with hot eats and cool treats, work up a sweat learning new dance steps, hang out in the sun or beside the fire (weather permitting), and dive into Indigenous Knowledges of the cosmos.

As part of National Music Centre’s OHSOTO’KINO initiative, join Studio Bell for a special event showcasing local Indigenous song, music, and dance. The day’s lineup includes Cree Métis recording artist/songwriter, poet, and filmmaker Sandra Sutter, nêhiyaw singer-songwriter Wyatt C. Louis, and Inuvaluit singer-songwriter Willie Thrasher with his partner Linda Saddleback.

Stardale is pleased to invite you to this inaugural Networking event, hosted by SLB at The Ampersand. Join your Industry Peers to further your education on collaborating, engaging and working with Indigenous peoples. Celebrate with Stardale Women’s Group on June 21,2024 for an educational film screening and drumming.

Runs daily Wed-Sun at 2 pm starting May 29. Take a 60-minute guided walking tour around the vibrant lands at The Confluence and learn some of the many histories of this significant place, including the history of the NWMP and their contribution to the birth of the city of Calgary, the railway, and the ways that many people have used this site since time immemorial. The walk is approximately 1.5 km and covers various terrains. Walks take place rain or shine, so come dressed for the weather. Access to the cultural centre requires additional admission. Recommended for ages 10+.

Participating vendors offer everything from food products to crafts and accessories. There will also be live music and food trucks on-site.
