This fall, YMCA Calgary is thrilled to announce a unique opportunity for the community to reconnect with the magic of summer camp. On September 21st, we will be hosting an inaugural one-day event at Camp Chief Hector: Homecoming. This nostalgic return to summer camp will allow alumni and families from across the province to enjoy a day of quintessential camp activities for both adults and kids. Registration is open now until September 13th for $40 per person (free for children under nine). Alumni who have been inspired by camp – whether as a camper, volunteer or staff member – can rediscover summer camp and the power of unplugged play at Homecoming, as can any families interested in learning more about what Camp Chief Hector has planned for the future. Guests will have the opportunity to explore recent enhancements made to camp facilities and hear more about plans for further improvements that will both preserve the legacy of Camp Chief Hector and ensure the next generation of campers can continue to foster lifelong skills like independence, courage, and teamwork that are key to youth development. What to expect at Homecoming: Homecoming is more than an annual event for you to connect back with your camp community. And it is more than a chance to share one of your favourite places with your favourite people. It is a time to relive the core memories that made you who you are today. Plus, you will also get to learn about camps latest developments as well as our plans to ensure camp will remain a core experience for our youth today and for generations to come. Fireside Chat Camp is calling you back – and now you can get the inside scoop on all things camp! Learn what’s happened, what’s happening and what’s planned for your beloved Camp. Hosted by Jana Reed, General Manager of Camp Chief Hector and special guests. Questions will be welcome at the end. While you attend, your family can go and experience the thrill of camp with more planned activities. Camp activities Share camp with your loved ones! Challenge each other at high ropes, share a s’more around the fire, visit with the horses at the Corral, see who has the best archery shot, enjoy a stroll along the water front… and so much more.
