Calgary Zoo - ZOOLIGHTS.

Takes place November 19 to January 2 (excluding November 23, 28 & 30 and December 3, 25 & 31). ZOOLIGHTS, presented by Olympia Trust Company, is back for its 25th year! This year's ZOOLIGHTS will feature exciting new themed areas and activities including a 25th anniversary Memory Lane, the Nutcracker in the ENMAX Conservatory, and an all-new “Tunnel of Light,” a tribute to Canada’s wetland, a holiday Zoo Market, and a very special “Dinos at Night” experience like you have never seen before! Of course, the Zoo is bringing back all the classic activities everyone has come to love like the Skating Rink, Fire pits, and Rival Axe Throwing. ZOOLIGHTS comes to life at night with twinkling lights at every turn, including over 200 light figurines, along with interactive and choreographed light displays. The lights are turned on at 5pm nightly and run until 9pm. It takes approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours to experience all that ZOOLIGHTS has to offer - but you are able to stay for as little or as long as you like!

Guided Snowshoe Adventures at Bow Habitat Station.

Takes place Fridays & Saturdays (excluding Friday, January 14) from January 7 to February 5. Join Bow Habitat Station for a 1-hour guided snowshoe adventure! Explore how Alberta’s wildlife adapt to survive winter while trekking the trails of the Interpretive Wetlands on snowshoes. Includes snowshoe rentals for day-use in the Interpretive Wetlands.For families of all ages, starting at children's shoe size 4. Subject to snowfall throughout the winter season. East Village is Bringing Cozy Back with Hygge Hut!.

Hygge Hut - pronounced “hoo-ga” - is the East Village's Scandinavian-style space inspired by the Danish idea of Hygge, which means a special kind of well-being - a cozy, easy togetherness. This season, Hygge Hut was reimagined to be bigger, better, and cozier than ever and has a new home in C-Square! There are weekly interactive live ice carving demonstrations, pop-up food trucks, hot chocolate, fireside storytimes, community dog walks, live music, and no shortage of good company! Check out the website for weekly programming and pop-up activities. (You’ll know you’re in the right place when the familiar smell of campfire hits your nose and gives you all the camping and nature feels without having to leave the city.) Hygge Hut is open Fridays, 2 to 6pm, Saturdays, Sundays, and Statutory Holidays Noon to 6pm until March.

Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo - Penguin Walk.

The Calgary Zoo is starting the year off with waddle! The 2022 Penguin Walk, presented by RE/MAX, marks the 10th year of the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo's penguin walk. During the winter months, the king penguin colony heads out on zoo grounds for a daily enrichment walk to keep their brains and bodies healthy and visitors get to experience the fun! This incredible program allows you to get an up-close look at the group of king penguins as they explore, exercise, and waddle their way through the zoo. This is a free-choice activity for the penguins and is subject to weather conditions and animal inclination.

WP Puppet Theatre's Puppet Pop-Up: I AM Enough!.

There are 2 puppet pop-up times: 1pm and 2:30pm. Inspired by the book "I AM Enough" by Grace Byers, this event will have you celebrating different aspects of yourself through puppetry! Celebrate and embrace different aspects of yourself through the art of puppetry! Participants will learn to make a glove puppet as well as age-appropriate techniques to move their puppet through expression and play. Brought to you in partnership with Calgary Reads and fourth year Mount Royal University Students from Early Learning, Childcare, and Child and Youth Counselling majors. This puppet making and play workshop will run just over an hour. Best for ages 5+. Younger siblings and inter-generational family members welcome!

It is present-day, and in the kingdom of Auradon, all of Disney’s beloved heroes and royalty are living happily ever after, safe from the terrifying villains and troublesome sidekicks they have banished to the magic-free Isle of the Lost. That is until Ben, the benevolent teenage son of Belle and King Adam (The Beast), offers a chance of redemption for the troublemaking offspring of the evilest villains. Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos - the children of Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Cruella De Vil, and Jafar - are welcomed to Auradon Prep to attend school with the children of their parents’ sworn enemies. Now entering a completely foreign world and way of life, the four Villain Kids have a difficult choice to make: should they follow in their parents’ wicked footsteps or learn to be good?
