Earth Hour 2024.

Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! After Earth Hour, share your participation with #EarthHour and #EarthHourYYC. Email programs@arusha.org with questions.

SnowDays in Banff National Park.

January 18 to 28. Banff National Park invites visitors and locals to embrace the cold, vigour, and fun that winter brings! The annual SnowDays Festival is a highlight of the winter season in Banff and Lake Louise. This festival features a variety of events, shows, and activities that combine history, culture, and winter activities. By day, skate on the stunning frozen surface of Lake Louise, watch competitive ice carvers, or spend a day skiing or riding on the slopes of one of the nearby ski resorts. By night, join the festivities in town by watching live music, ski and snowboard competitions, or enjoying drinks by the fire! For full details, visit the website. There will be 10 to 11 snow sculptures in downtown Banff where teams from around the world will compete to create the best sculpture.

Teach your child about courage, unity, joyfulness, and caring in an afternoon of fun and adventure. An event for the whole family that you will want to be a part of. Recommended for children aged 5 to 12, but created with the entire family in mind. Come one hour before the show & enjoy family friendly activities. Stay after to meet the performers. (While supplies last.)Christopher Cool will be at the Market with a very fun Frosty magic show from 11 to 11:45am and a large ice sculpture will be carved from 10am to 1pm at the southeast entrance! Project Warmth is a registered charitable association that supplies warm clothing, outerwear, and blankets to shelters, individuals, or families in need throughout Calgary. Most needed items include: hats, sweaters, coats, mittens, scarves, boots, blankets and sleeping bags, warm clothing for kids, warm clothing for teenagers, etc.

Puppet Pop-Up Studio: Year of the Dog.

Make your own dog puppet from paper, cardstock, and plastic bags to celebrate the upcoming Year of the Dog with guest puppeteer Ali DeRegt. Puppet Pop-Up Studio is a monthly puppet-making and performing workshop on the third Saturday of each month at different locations in Calgary. We actively promote all family members, youngsters, and elders in creating art and drama together and accommodate all skills and ages, with a different theme each month. Note: Children and teens must participate with an adult or senior. Tickets $5 to $35. Kids ages 5+ must participate with an adult.
