Register today for the 13th Annual Hike for Hospice Calgary, taking place on May 6. 9am: North Parking Lot - Registration, Pledge Drop-Off, T-shirt Pick-Up, and Festivities. 10am: Warm up with the Stampeder Outriders, Opening Ceremonies, and then the Walk! Walk 5K at Sikome Lake, Fish Creek Provincial Park, as Hospice Calgary celebrates people close to Hospice Calgary and to support end-of-life care in the local community. Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! Mixing the magic with the normal the story follows a nine-year-old girl, Sophie, who reaches out to her parents, Demetrius and Helena, trying to make them, through her stories, recapture the moment when they were young and in love. Whales|Tohor? is an interactive experience housing one of the world's largest whale collections from the National Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa. Presented by Ben Borkovic, Palaeontologist with the Royal Tyrrell Museum Flood Mitigation Project Palaeontology is alive and well in Alberta! Since the floods of June 2013, numerous dinosaur fossils have been discovered and collected as part of a dedicated effort to recover at-risk specimens. These, and other discoveries, are advancing our understanding of Cretaceous Alberta’s dinosaur fauna and have resulted in new scientific publications. Come learn about some newly unearthed Alberta specimens, how they were found and collected, and why they matter for the future of palaeontology.
