As Calgary's premier water sport festival, the Calgary Dragon Boat Race & Festival draws over 1,850 competitors, 4,000 spectators, and an abundance of excitement and cultural experiences. Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! This Girl Can Expo, presented by Hurd Ventures, is for girls ages 5+ featuring health and wellness, sports activities, fashion, arts and design, science and technology, and safety and support. Visitors to the festival will be treated to authentic Japanese customs, presentations of traditional music, dance and song, martial arts demonstrations, and more! There will also be games and bouncy houses for kids, galleries of local Japanese arts and crafts, as well as several food kiosks featuring traditional Japanese cuisine. Free for kids 5 and under.

Enjoy pony rides (free with admission from 11am to 4pm), a corn-husking competition, face painting, corn-decorating, and more! One free cob of Taber corn for each visitor to take home! Admission is free for kids 2 and under.

We set up a reading tent at Riley Park every Saturday of the summer (weather permitting) to promote children's literacy June 23 to August 25! Children will be able to read books with volunteers and participate in crafts and face paint related to the weekly themes.

Join for an informative demonstration of massage for your baby! As you know, babies love your touch. The students are hosting an infant massage session where they will teach you massage techniques to use on your child, to help bond, sooth colic, relax, and love your baby! All caregivers are welcome.
