Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! When the Elders of the Community choose him to be the Receiver of Memory, Jonas starts a journey to uncover the truth of this place he has always called home. This month-long event will foster understanding, appreciation, and celebration of Canada’s Indigenous Peoples. Experience educational activities, cultural displays, and storytelling sessions that connect both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians. The celebrations will include: Full-Size Tipi: Step inside a tipi adorned with tapestries representing decades of Indigenous contributions to Calgary’s culture. Storytelling: Be moved by traditional stories from elders, delight in puppet shows by Indigenous authors, and explore virtual reality experiences by the Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth. The Calgary Baby & Tot Show is a demographic-specific consumer tradeshow designed to offer everything needed from pre-baby to toddlers to school-age children. Local and National businesses will showcase the latest products and services assisting parents and caregivers. This Spring, the show is thrilled to have a Meet and Greet with Chase from Paw Patrol on both days, plus many wonderful interactive performances throughout the weekend. There are Educational Seminars, Arts & Crafts, Face Painting, Parented Play Zones, and Non-Stop Entertainment for the whole family. Take place now through March 31. 2019 Marks the 7th Year of the Calgary Zoo Penguin Walk! This incredible program allows visitors to get an up-close look at the group of king penguins as they explore, exercise, and waddle their way through the zoo. This is a free-choice activity for the penguins and is subject to weather conditions. *Note: If the temperature warms up to +5ºC, drops to below -25ºC, or the wind exceeds 20km/h, it will be cancelled for the safety of the penguins. Please check the zoo's homepage and social media channels for any updates to the walk due to weather.

Families are welcome to experience a delightful and engaging afternoon of song, presented by the Calgary Girls Choir!
