Earth Hour 2024.

Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! After Earth Hour, share your participation with #EarthHour and #EarthHourYYC. Email programs@arusha.org with questions.

Skate To Great National Skate Drive Returns to Calgary .

Skate To Great National Skate Drive Returns to Calgary in advance of the Stars on Ice show. The spring skate drive launches on May 11 at Scotiabank Saddledome, offering an opportunity to kick-start your spring cleaning and donate gently used skates to local kids who need them! Bring your items to the Scotiabank Saddledome on May 11 anytime after 6:30pm. Skate To Great organizers and FedEx Express Canada will be collecting used kids hockey and figure skates, helmets and hockey sticks. To kick off the drive, organizers will be collecting items at Scotiabank Saddledome, where Stars on Ice will be performing. After the kick-off date on May 11, bring your items for donation to one of Skate To Great’s collection locations until May 31. Family Exploration Kananaskis (Part of Get Outside and Play Week).

This event is part of Get Outside and Play Week. Join for toddler-led exploration and playtime! Meet in the general vicinity of the winter day-use area (where the ice rink is in winter). This is not a guided experience. It's child-led with parents actively participating in the exploration and play. Dress for the weather, and make sure everyone is wearing appropriate footwear. Bring snacks, lunch, and whatever you need to enjoy nature for a couple of hours, such as chairs and hammocks. Please do not bring nuts, as some kids may have allergies. Please leave toys and screens behind. As long as there is no fire ban, there will be a cookout lunch. Directions: From Turner Valley, drive west on Hwy 546, approximately 20K. When you see the red gate across the highway, turn left into Sandy McNabb. Continue straight and go down the hill and turn left into the parking lot with a pit toilet.

Calgary Corn Maze & Fun Farm Baby Animal Festival.

During this event, you can interact with all of the baby barnyard animals, including miniature horses, donkeys, lambs, goats, rabbits, piglets, ducklings, chicks, calves, and kittens, plus get to meet the Spring babies (now all grown up) from previous years, too! Admission also includes access to over 35 great Fun Farm Attractions. Note: The corn mazes are not open for this event, as they are newly planted and actively growing.
