Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! Hiding in a closet to avoid bullies, Bastian becomes immersed in a strangely compelling book: the tale of a hero’s quest to save the realm of Fantastica from the encroaching terror of the Nothing. But is Bastian just a reader of this extraordinary story or a vital part of it? Filled with spectacle and wondrous other-worldly creatures, this beautiful tale of the trials of childhood and the triumph of creativity will delight and inspire the whole family! Rated PG. Takes place February 13 to 17. Family Quest at Heritage Park. Bring the whole family down to Gasoline Alley Museum and take on some classic racing games and activities. Assemble and race custom vehicles, take a spin on the ever-popular RC raceway, play games, and explore the museum!

2020 marks the 8th year of the Calgary Zoo Penguin Walk! The king penguin colony heads out on the zoo grounds for a daily enrichment walk in the winter months and visitors get to experience the fun! This incredible program allows visitors to get an up-close look at the group of king penguins as they explore, exercise, and waddle their way through the zoo. This is a free-choice activity for the penguins and is subject to weather conditions.

The Valentine’s Day Bash will feature vinyl DJs spinning all of the best love tunes on the East Village Skybridge, a cash bar with beers provided by Village Brewery, and a Cupid’s Arrow cocktail. Plus, daters can take in a ballroom dancing lesson inside Studio Bell’s second floor performance hall, and explore five floors of interactive exhibitions.

Get all dressed up for In the Heat of the Night, the Zoo's annual adventure into the world of critter romance. Arrive to a welcome prosecco and start the evening off right by toasting to a wonderful evening of setting sparks fly with a little help from Mother Nature. Then let the Zoo satisfy your appetite for romance and delectable nibbles with appetizers at your table and a scrumptious dinner buffet.
