See a 75-minute version of The Merry Wives of Windsor performed at multiple locations in Calgary and area, such as Heritage Park, Brookfield Residential properties, and other public spaces. All performances take place outdoors, and are family-friendly, engaging, and easily accessible. There are no tickets required and no cost for the show, donations are welcome.

The worldwide touring exhibit, The Museum of Failure (MOX), is coming to Canada for the first time. MOX will be popping up in Calgary at Southcentre Mall this summer. This immersive walk-through exhibition showcases a collection of over 130 failed innovations from major brands, including Apple, Amazon, Nintendo, and more.

Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! A festival where artists create temporary site-specific installations in downtown Okotoks. This art festival sees artists repurpose and animate forgotten places with ‘forgotten’ materials, bringing public art to forgotten corners of downtown Okotoks. Individual artists and teams use recycled products to create installations that raise environmental awareness, animate spaces, and entertain audiences.

The Calgary Fringe Festival features local, national, and international productions for a total of over one hundred performances over 9 days. This year's event will be a hybrid festival experience between live in-person performances and digital offerings (pre-recorded theatrical video/audio presentations and live stream). Come see dogs of all shapes and sizes at the Alberta Kennel Club Summer Classic dog show at Spruce Meadows. Nearly 2,000 canines and their human companions will compete each day in several dog sports – including junior handling for the kids, obedience trials, rally obedience trials, agility, scent hurdle racing, and of course for the coveted Best in Show!

Join us at Southcentre Mall from June 3rd to 23rd for our fourth annual Indigenous History Month celebration in partnership with Authentically Indigenous. This month-long event will foster understanding, appreciation, and celebration of Canada’s Indigenous Peoples. Experience educational activities, cultural displays, and storytelling sessions that connect both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians. The celebrations will include: Full-Size Tipi: Step inside a tipi adorned with tapestries representing decades of Indigenous contributions to Calgary’s culture. Storytelling: Be moved by traditional stories from elders, delight in puppet shows by Indigenous authors, and explore virtual reality experiences by the Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth. Artisan Market: Discover the vibrancy of Indigenous creativity at our artisan market on June 7th and 8th. Enjoy music, dance, and locally crafted goods. Beginning May 1, the Bow Habitat Station’s Kids Can Catch Trout Pond is open for the season. This pond is stocked with rainbow trout raised in the fish hatchery for you to catch and release. Visit bowhabitat.alberta.ca for more information.

Chinook Country Historical Society, a chapter of the Historical Society of Alberta, is pleased to present the 32nd annual Historic Calgary Week from July 22 through August 1, 2022. Join us as we learn about and celebrate the history, culture, and community of Calgary and area with this year’s theme – We'll Meet Again: Unseen History Brought to Life. There are virtual and in-person events and with more than 65 different walks, talks, tours, and presentations there is something for everyone. From June 25 to September 5, there will be Open Aircraft Days on Saturdays, Sundays, and holiday Mondays. Knowledgeable staff and volunteers will be available to answer your questions.

This FREE Immersive 3 Week Dance Intensive will be held in Calgary and invite five guest dance instructors to lead workshops and intensives for 40 African, Caribbean and Black participants ranging from five years of age to adults over three weeks from July 11 - 30, 2022. The instructors will be traveling from Africa (South Africa), USA (Denver, Chicago and Washington), and Vancouver bringing over their 20+ years of experience in African diasporic dance forms.

Every Friday and Saturday evening in July, you can enjoy an extra two hours at Calaway Park, as they will be open from 10am to 9pm, for the regular price of admission. If you don’t want to play all day, you can visit from 5pm to 9pm for just $21.95 (plus GST) per person!

This year's ZOOLIGHTS will feature exciting new themed areas and activities including a 25th anniversary Memory Lane, the Nutcracker in the ENMAX Conservatory, and an all-new “Tunnel of Light,” a tribute to Canada’s wetland, a holiday Zoo Market, and a very special “Dinos at Night” experience like you have never seen before! Of course, the Zoo is bringing back all the classic activities everyone has come to love like the Skating Rink, Fire pits, and Rival Axe Throwing. ZOOLIGHTS comes to life at night with twinkling lights at every turn, including over 200 light figurines, along with interactive and choreographed light displays. The lights are turned on at 5pm nightly and run until 9pm. It takes approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours to experience all that ZOOLIGHTS has to offer - but you are able to stay for as little or as long as you like!
