Visit 17th Ave retail and entertainment district this season for Summer on 17th. There will be live music, fitness classes, DJ and drag shows, outdoor movies, and more in Tomkins Park throughout the summer, and all of the events are free.

See a 75-minute version of The Merry Wives of Windsor performed at multiple locations in Calgary and area, such as Heritage Park, Brookfield Residential properties, and other public spaces. All performances take place outdoors, and are family-friendly, engaging, and easily accessible. There are no tickets required and no cost for the show, donations are welcome.

This art festival sees artists repurpose and animate forgotten places with ‘forgotten’ materials, bringing public art to forgotten corners of downtown Okotoks. Individual artists and teams use recycled products to create installations that raise environmental awareness, animate spaces, and entertain audiences.

At Sunfest, there is an activity made for all ages. Inglewood is host to over two hundred vendors that vary from artisan crafts, to imported wares, to community organizations and more.

Come see dogs of all shapes and sizes at the Alberta Kennel Club Summer Classic dog show at Spruce Meadows. Nearly 2,000 canines and their human companions will compete each day in several dog sports – including junior handling for the kids, obedience trials, rally obedience trials, agility, scent hurdle racing, and of course for the coveted Best in Show!

The Stampede includes rodeo, chuckwagon races, and the signature Running with the Bulls event.

The Calgary Fringe Festival features local, national, and international productions for a total of over one hundred performances over 9 days. This year's event will be a hybrid festival experience between live in-person performances and digital offerings (pre-recorded theatrical video/audio presentations and live stream). A long weekend filled with so much to do you won’t be able to fit it all in. Although things may still look a little different in 2022, this long-standing tradition is the perfect way to spend Heritage Day weekend.

The Canmore Folk Music Festival is the longest running folk music festival in Alberta and one of its finest. Taking place over 3 days of the Heritage Day long weekend in August, the festival features thirty individual acts or performers, family-friendly site, a free downtown concert on festival Friday evening, a kids’ area jammed with crafts, puppets, music, storytelling and a climbing wall.

The worldwide touring exhibit, The Museum of Failure (MOX), is coming to Canada for the first time. MOX will be popping up in Calgary at Southcentre Mall this summer. This immersive walk-through exhibition showcases a collection of over 130 failed innovations from major brands, including Apple, Amazon, Nintendo, and more.

Imagine walking through a larger-than-life kaleidoscope or a stained glass window, sprinkle in an immersive soundscape and you have Luminarium. An 11,000-square-foot inflatable structure with 21 mesmerizing rooms, filled with vivid colours that reflect the sun’s natural light off curved walls all within a labyrinthine of tunnels.

This event marks the 19th edition of the Tour de Bowness. On Saturday, watch the cyclists from many great viewing points along the road course just outside of Cochrane. On Sunday, enjoy a hill climb on MacKay Road in Montgomery during the day. This year’s event will have a small twist ensuring the fastest will go up against each other for the title. Chinook Country Historical Society, a chapter of the Historical Society of Alberta, is pleased to present the 32nd annual Historic Calgary Week from July 22 through August 1, 2022. Join us as we learn about and celebrate the history, culture, and community of Calgary and area with this year’s theme – We'll Meet Again: Unseen History Brought to Life. There are virtual and in-person events and with more than 65 different walks, talks, tours, and presentations there is something for everyone. This FREE Immersive 3 Week Dance Intensive will be held in Calgary and invite five guest dance instructors to lead workshops and intensives for 40 African, Caribbean and Black participants ranging from five years of age to adults over three weeks from July 11 - 30, 2022. The instructors will be traveling from Africa (South Africa), USA (Denver, Chicago and Washington), and Vancouver bringing over their 20+ years of experience in African diasporic dance forms.

Takes place November 19 to January 2 (excluding November 23, 28 & 30 and December 3, 25 & 31). ZOOLIGHTS, presented by Olympia Trust Company, is back for its 25th year! This year's ZOOLIGHTS will feature exciting new themed areas and activities including a 25th anniversary Memory Lane, the Nutcracker in the ENMAX Conservatory, and an all-new “Tunnel of Light,” a tribute to Canada’s wetland, a holiday Zoo Market, and a very special “Dinos at Night” experience like you have never seen before! Of course, the Zoo is bringing back all the classic activities everyone has come to love like the Skating Rink, Fire pits, and Rival Axe Throwing. ZOOLIGHTS comes to life at night with twinkling lights at every turn, including over 200 light figurines, along with interactive and choreographed light displays. The lights are turned on at 5pm nightly and run until 9pm. It takes approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours to experience all that ZOOLIGHTS has to offer - but you are able to stay for as little or as long as you like!

Every Friday and Saturday evening in July, you can enjoy an extra two hours at Calaway Park, as they will be open from 10am to 9pm, for the regular price of admission. If you don’t want to play all day, you can visit from 5pm to 9pm for just $21.95 (plus GST) per person!
