This month-long event will foster understanding, appreciation, and celebration of Canada’s Indigenous Peoples. Experience educational activities, cultural displays, and storytelling sessions that connect both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians. The celebrations will include: Full-Size Tipi: Step inside a tipi adorned with tapestries representing decades of Indigenous contributions to Calgary’s culture. Storytelling: Be moved by traditional stories from elders, delight in puppet shows by Indigenous authors, and explore virtual reality experiences by the Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth. Bow Habitat Kids Can Catch Trout Pond.

RBC Race for the Kids.

After two years of operating as a virtual event during the pandemic, RBC Race for the Kids is back with a day of in-person fun that includes a 6-km family walk/run, race T-shirt, pancake breakfast, as well as all-day parking and access to Heritage Park on September 11, 2022. Now in its sixth year, RBC Race for the Kids funds programs and services that help kids in our community who are struggling with their mental health. Registrants can set up their own fundraising page to reach out to family and friends for support. If you would like to learn more about the kind of programs and services RBC Race for the Kids supports, visit buildthemup.ca Register early for a chance to see Blake Shelton in concert! Anyone who signs up before June 30 will be entered to win two tickets to see Blake Shelton live at the Scotiabank Saddledome during the Calgary Stampede on July 16. You don’t have to worry about paying Stampede gate admission, either – this prize package includes free access to the grounds. Registration opens June 8 with special early-bird pricing of $25 for adults and $15 for youth age 3-17. Children 2 and under are free.

‘Wolves: The Art of Dempsey Bob’ at Glenbow.

Experience the work of Tahltan-Tlingit master carver Dempsey Bob at the immersive ‘Wolves: The Art of Dempsey Bob’ exhibition. The exhibition features 65 works and is the first-ever retrospective of Bob’s career from the 1970s to the present. Visitors to the exhibition will discover a selection of masks, sculpture and regalia, complemented by Bob’s work in bronze casting and vestment production. In his works, Bob reinterprets the traditional characters and iconography from the age-old stories of his people, at times transforming those traditional tales with European influences.
