Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! Award-winning actor and director Frank Ferrante ignites his PBS, New York and London acclaimed portrayal of legendary comedian Groucho Marx in this fast paced 90 minutes of hilarity. The two-act comedy consists of the funniest Groucho one-liners, anecdotes and songs including “Hooray for Captain Spalding,” and “Lydia, the Tattooed Lady.” The audience literally becomes part of the show as Ferrante ad-libs his way throughout the performance in grand Groucho style at Stage West (727 42 Avenue SE).

Join us at Southcentre Mall from June 3rd to 23rd for our fourth annual Indigenous History Month celebration in partnership with Authentically Indigenous. This month-long event will foster understanding, appreciation, and celebration of Canada’s Indigenous Peoples. Experience educational activities, cultural displays, and storytelling sessions that connect both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians. The celebrations will include: Full-Size Tipi: Step inside a tipi adorned with tapestries representing decades of Indigenous contributions to Calgary’s culture. Storytelling: Be moved by traditional stories from elders, delight in puppet shows by Indigenous authors, and explore virtual reality experiences by the Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth. Artisan Market: Discover the vibrancy of Indigenous creativity at our artisan market on June 7th and 8th. Enjoy music, dance, and locally crafted goods. Educational Information Walls: Learn and engage with displays that provide deeper insights into Indigenous culture.

Every meal tells a story, and this one is about family. In this tour-de-force solo show, Francesco, a young Italian immigrant and his father, Salvatore, recall their experiences in 1970s Jasper, Alberta.

At the Field of Crosses, in place from November 1 to 11 each year, you can honour those who have fallen for our country. Each of the 3,500-plus crosses erected on the north side of the Bow River – along Memorial Drive – is inscribed with the name, rank, regiment, and date of death of a Southern Alberta soldier killed in action.

Canadian recording artist, singer, songwriter, entertainer, producer, vocal coach, mentor, Sherry Kennedy, brings her music and career to the stage at cSpace Marda Loop. Sherry will be performing originals songs as well as others that have seen her charting in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and US. A fun and inspiring evening of great entertainment.

It must embrace everything.” And what better way to convey its profound evolution — from awakening to enlightenment to love — than the combined forces of the Calgary Philharmonic and the Edmonton Symphony orchestras, plus the magnificent voices of mezzo-soprano Susan Platts, the Calgary Philharmonic Chorus, and Calgary Girls Choir.
