Calgary Unplugged is an annual family-friendly Earth Hour event. Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Location: Central Library (800 3 Street SE) Join us for music, entertainment, and opportunities to experience what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Pedal power midway games and experience how our natural world affects our daily lives. Bring personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party! Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with support from The City of Calgary and community agencies. If you can't make it to the event, turning off nonessential lights, "unplug" from electronics at 8:30 and reconnect with people, games or hobbies! The Kings Own Calgary Regiment will be holding the Annual Battalion Park Remembrance Day Ceremony. The ceremony includes speeches and public addresses, along with wreath laying and a short ceremony in conjunction with military personnel.

Remembrance Day service will be hosted at the monument outside of the Legion Branch.

The annual ceremony includes Calgary Highlanders Parade. The Calgary Highlanders will have a Military parade using 4 Street SW between 12 and 13 Avenue SW. It will be held at the Memorial Park area around the Cenotaph.

Award-winning actor and director Frank Ferrante ignites his PBS, New York and London acclaimed portrayal of legendary comedian Groucho Marx in this fast paced 90 minutes of hilarity. The two-act comedy consists of the funniest Groucho one-liners, anecdotes and songs including “Hooray for Captain Spalding,” and “Lydia, the Tattooed Lady.” The audience literally becomes part of the show as Ferrante ad-libs his way throughout the performance in grand Groucho style at Stage West (727 42 Avenue SE).

Jubilations Dinner Theatre takes a ride on the Highway to the Danger Zone with their parody spin on the fighter jet franchise. Two classic movies made 30 years apart featuring a movie star that somehow looks like he hasn’t aged a single day… it’s just a musical theatre spoof waiting to happen.

Back for its 12th year, the Calgary European Film Festival highlights films from more than 25 countries including Germany, Iceland, Serbia, Spain and more. In-person screenings take place at Globe Cinema, with select films available to stream online as well.

At the Field of Crosses, in place from November 1 to 11 each year, you can honour those who have fallen for our country. Each of the 3,500-plus crosses erected on the north side of the Bow River – along Memorial Drive – is inscribed with the name, rank, regiment, and date of death of a Southern Alberta soldier killed in action.

Local artists from the Southern Alberta Art Alliance will present their new work at the group’s annual Fall Art Show at Triwood Community Centre. The helicopter landing area behind The Hangar Flight Museum was once a parade square during the Second World War as part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. The Eagle Copters partner with the museum to host the service in this space.

The Military Museums will host its annual Remembrance Day service at 4520 Crowchild Trail SW both in person and online, streamed to their Facebook page starting at 10:20 am. Following the event, the museum will be open to the public from 12pm to 6pm, with admission by donation. Following the ceremony, the public is welcomed to lay a wreath at the Eternal Flame monument.

Remembrance Day ceremonies will be held at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium. Doors to the building will be open at 9am. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis when you arrive.

Join for a special service featuring Central Alberta Chamber Players, world class bagpiper Bill Hawes, and singer-songwriter Steve Jevne. Veterans and active service members will receive free Studio Bell admission on Remembrance Day.

Canadian Pacific Kansas City Railway will pay tribute to all veterans who courageously answered the call of duty, and to the more than 33,000 CPKC employees who have served, at its Remembrance Day ceremony. This Remembrance Day, CPKC will remember those who have served on both sides of the border at CPKC’s Memorial Square.
