Weather permitting, these outdoor rinks are free and open daily during the winter season.
Bowness Park, 8900-48 Ave NW, Skate on the lagoon in Bowness Park. The bonfires at the lagoon's edge help warm up frosty fingers and toes.

Olympic Plaza, 228 - 8 Ave SE This downtown ice rink is open for skating, 10 am-9 pm daily. Ice Friends - These Calgary Parks & Recreation leaders and volunteers are on-duty weekends to help tie skates, lead games, and ensure a safe, enjoyable time is had by all. Watch for Ice Friends every Fri, 6-9 pm; Sat, 1-4 pm & 6-9 pm; and Sun, 1-4 pm. Free Skating Instruction - Experienced skating instructors are at the ice rink to offer basic skating assistance to the public, every Sat & Sun, from 11 am-1 pm.

Thanks to volunteers, many city neighbourhoods maintain outdoor rinks during the winter. Call your community association for locations.
