It’s hard to beat splashing in mud puddles, but there are plenty of simple, unplugged pleasures to enjoy with children when the weather is dreary.
Just as moms and daughters can bond by spending special time together, dads and daughters need quality time too. I have learned that making memories with her dad is just as important for my daughter as making memories with me or with the entire family.
Being the mother of three boys, I am well-acquainted with mess. That’s not to say I like it. So often I say “no” when my boys want to do something out-of-the-box messy, but my mom heart feels guilty because I know how much fun it would be. Moms like me avoid shaving cream fights or stomping through mud puddles because - let’s face it - kids are messy enough without giving mom something else to clean up.
My favorite thing to do when the weather turns warm is toss my kids in the yard and let them play. If they demand further entertainment, I have a few tricks up my sleeve. These activities involve very little effort on my part, but the kids love them. (These would also be great games for a summertime birthday!)
